Hi,

I received a message today that the NVC APPROVED my Affidavit of support and my Tax Return. They requird an updated civil document which I took care of.

I have a Case FE notice asking me to submit every 2020 W-2/1099 forms but the Affidavit davit and tax return is accepted. What does that mean?

It probably means you submitted your return and not your transcripts, and when you submit your return you have to submit every document you used to prepare it.

When filing they asked for one of the 2 documents. Either the transcript OR the the tax return. It doesn't make sense because they accepted it so why ask for it after accepting it? All of my info is on the return and I'm meeting their poverty guidelines

Instructions say: you submit a return, you submit all the documents (W2’s, 1099’s, etc) that go with it.

See instructions item 23a-25

If you failed to provide that you’re DOA until you do

The complete tax return includes any w2s or 1099s.  It's just the way it is.

YMMV

I have the w2s, but 15% of my income is self income which I don't have anything for. What do I do about that?

You provide what you have,  you can't provide what you don't

YMMV

How about if I upload a transcript? Would that work too?

What if I provide my transcripts instead?

If you have the transcript or access to get it, then that is what you should have done in the first place

YMMV

If you have self employment income, the instructions say:

Quote

If you selected Part 6., Item Number 2. that you are self-employed, you should have completed one of the following forms with your Federal income tax return: Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business), Schedule D (Capital Gains), Schedule E (Supplemental Income or Loss), or Schedule F (Profit or Loss from Farming). You must include each and every Form 1040 Schedule, if any, that you filed with your Federal income tax return.

That’s probably all you need to do

So is it okay that I upload both the w2 ( i have one) and the transcript? They're only asking for the W2/1099s

Dude c’mon

Follow the instructions and quit asking how not to
