won't require a different class of license.  Most states don't require a CDL for a large motorhome, and those can get up to 40k lbs.  But a heavier vehicle will both require a larger battery and more charging.  And while more charging stations are becoming available, as you mentioned above - it increases trip time due to the slower charging vs refilling at the gas pump.

And as I point out to my "woke" EV friends, that electricity they are using doesn't come from the sun.

In Michigan, if one is driving a vehicle over 10k lbs in a commercial setting, they need to have a chauffer's license, and since DLs are state issues, there will be a variety of differences.  My main point though is these EV trucks are way heavier than their ICE counterparts, and there are other factors that will impact their adoption other than for the completely 'woke' class.  I agree, when I talk to the EV fanatics, they seem to gloss over all the other factors that impact EV ownership, many of them also maintain an ICE as a second vehicle, and they always seem to assume everyone lives in single family homes with nice heated garages.  One of the factors of the 20% going back to ICE vehicles were those that had only a single car.  I think those owners were sold a bill of goods, and found out the utility of an EV is questionable in many situations.

Alternate headline:

80% of EV Purchasers Stay With Technology

Yes, this is an alternative, however as already mentioned, it is 20% of a very small population, and with the political winds blowing toward 100% EVs in the very near future, this is quite telling.

Some years ago, I came home, and this dialogue ensued:

T-B.:  You bought me cheap?  What the dickens does THAT mean?  I'm not that cheap.  And don't let Immigration hear you say that.
Mrs. T-B. [frustrated]:  Cheap, CHEAP!  I bought you CHEAP!

I have a friend on the waiting list for a Rivian, I can see a Rav4 Prime makes sense.

With the move to zero emissions the issue I see is that a pure EV is still 50% of a IC vehicle so where does the rest come from?

Depends.  Most of the EV trucks I am aware of weigh more than 10,000 lbs without any loads (most 1/2 ton trucks fall in the range of 6,000 to 8,500 lbs).  This may require the need for a different classification of license, and it may fall into a different vehicle classification.  Regardless, more road damage with a much heavier truck.

"Batteries are heavy, and the truck weighs about 6,500 pounds, roughly 1,000 more than the same truck with the 3.5-liter engine."

So about 20% more. I assume that is for the standard 230 mile range. 44k entry price.

The truck is good looking, but I hate the stuck on tablet look console like the Tesls.

A Tesla S weighs about 5,000lbs.

I like the combo as the battery is smaller and allows many to do their regular stuff EV and have the IC for longer trips and not have to carry all that extra weight around.

RAV$ primes are next to impossible. We will not even know if we are getting them in the south until July

Total life emissions of EV are about half of IC.

Not sure if I like the frontal look of the Rav4, and as with a lot of this stuff wonder how they will hold up with so much to go wrong, what will the cost of repairs be in 10 years?

There was someone with a BMW, not high end, electric window motor went could only be replaced by a Dealer as it had to be programmed, over a $1,000 to do and not worth it.

I can see that many will end up being scrapped well before what might be there expected lifetime because of this sort of thing, only time will tell.
