Hi,

I'd like to know what are the requirements and where can I find details on how to know what to do before visiting the US with a tourist visa? My relative/sister in law got fully vaccinated and someone told her that her vaccine which is sinovac is not accepted in the USA. Is this true? I've never heard of such. I'd like to know info about it and know where to ask.. can someone help?

Thank you very much

There is no requirement to be vaccinated (at least not yet). There is a requirement to have a negative Covid test within 3 days before traveling to the US. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-testing-required-us-entry.html

It is correct that sinovac is not approved for use by the FDA,  but that’s not really relevant as there is no vaccine exemption /benefit for travel at present.

Get a COVID test within 3 days of US travel.  As mentioned above, whether your sister-in-law got vaccinated or what brand is irrelevant at the moment.

As usual the gossip in the Philippines is not true.

Here are the details from the US Government, and unlike the Philippines they don't change daily:

I wonder if your relative was getting confused with the EU rules, where sinopharm but not sinovac is on the list of approved vaccines for fully vaccinated travelers to be able to visit (soon).

thank you everyone for the reply!

apparently my relative heard in the news there in PH that one of the reporters cancelled their trip because apparently sinovac vaccinated people might not be recognized? I am really confused now..

Just ignore the noise about vaccination requirement.  Philippine citizens with valid tourist visa and negative COVID test taken within 3 days of travel are allowed to seek entry to the US.  Whether they are vaccinated or not is IRRELEVANT.

No matter who heard what, there is currently no vaccination requirement, so it’s irrelevant what is recognized in the US.
