Hi all,

Was looking though the site and saw the info on the i-751, but couldn't find what I needed.  We filed the first i-751 back in 2019, and my wife and daughter received a 2 year Green Card, which will be expiring in July for my wife and August for my daughter.  Since we didn't have the 10 year card, we don't file the i-90 in case anyone asks.  So from my understanding I have to refile a i-751, but I'm not positive on what supporting documents are needed since it's just a renewal.  Any help on directing me where to find what I need would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

When did your wife and daughter get their first green card/permanent residence?   No one should have to file to remove conditions twice, if approved the first time.

They received them back in 2019, my daughter's paperwork for an unknown reason was filed separatly from my wife's.  The interviewer was really nice and found her paperwork and fixed it, though the expiration dates are different.

This is not correct, right?

So they adjusted status in 2019, and now you are removing conditions?  If so, this is the guide you want to follow:

Instructions from USCIS are also good and easy to follow.

Yes, we received the first Permanent Resident Card back in July of 2019.  They would sometimes issue 2 year cards so some applicants and sometimes they would give a 10 year cards.  I don't know what their criteria was on which one you would get back then either.

Your timeline shows that the AOS was in 2019. That would have been the I-485, not the I-751. The next step is removing conditions, which is the I-751 and that should result in the 10 year green card. It's not a renewal of the two year green card , but the next step you take to become a permanent resident.

It has always been based on the length of the marriage at the time the Green Card was approved...Under 2 years = 2 year card...... 2 years or longer = 10 year card.  Follow the guide listed above for removing conditions on a conditional Green card.

You and I were posting at the same time, and I just saw this. The first card is a two year green card and means you're a conditional permanent resident. Three months before it expires, you apply for removal of those conditions to become a permanent resident. That's the step you'll be taking. This is when you get the ten year green card.  https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-we-grant-your-green-card

Your VisaJourney timeline shows your wife was originally a K1 and she filed I485 in June 2018 and was interviewed in July 2019.

Indicating your filing situation from the get go when posting is helpful so others can help.

She now has to remove conditions by filing I751 (for the first time).

It isn’t a renewal you are filing.  It’s a full blown application to lift conditions and requires stacks of proof of valid marriage.
