This is so depressing and wondering if anybody is on the same boat from the Philippines. My mom filed for my dad’s petition to come here, she is a green card holder. I understand because of pandemic things has changed and made a lot of delays. My mom filed October of 2019. Please share your thoughts and experience.

Because your mom is an LPR (green card) the priority date is a bigger factor than when you petitioned you mom.   The process will not go as quickly.   Did your mom receive an invoice from NVC?

How do I know if my priority date meets the most recent cut-off date? What does that mean?

If your Priority Date meets the most recent Cut-off Date (called becomes current) and your petition is ready to begin processing at the NVC. As your Priority Date gets closer to the Cut-off Date and is likely to be current soon, NVC will contact you to start processing. Learn more by reviewing the Visa Bulletin.

> If your Priority Date meets the most recent Cut-off Date, or is likely to become current soon, the NVC will:

  1. Invoice you for your visa application fees
  2. Collect your visa application and supporting documentation
  3. Hold your visa petition until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Yes I figured it will take longer but not thought this long 🤣 wait what cutoff date? Did I missed something from the link? Can’t seem to find it 🤔. It says current visa bulletin May 2021, and no NVC has not contacted her.

Your mom got an approval notice (I-797) from USCIS for the petition?

If your mom has not received an invoice yet from NVC  then y'all need to be .............. patient  ;)  (where have you heard that before?)    Have to wait for NVC to send an invoice then your mom can pay the fees and move forward.

California

California reported processing times is 21 to 28 months.   She is coming into 20 months.  One would hope the petition is close
