K1 Interview

Hello,

I'm currently awaiting a NOA2 and assuming all goes well it would be an approval. I understand that at that point our case would be sent to the NVC and eventually make its way to the embassy.

So my worry at the moment is that i would need to get my fiance from Cuba to Guyana for the actual interview at the embassy.

The issue that Cuba has extremely limited flights which are basically 1 round-trip per week from the USA. There are a number of things that would not be in my favor like not knowing the actual date that will be available, not knowing if i will be able to book a flight for the date of the interview.

So you can see how this can be a major issue if this was the case would i just need to keep getting the interview rescheduled until i could get a flight for my fiance from Cuba to Guyana?

11/21/20: I-129F packet shipped via USPS

11/25/20: I-129F delivered to Dallas Lockbox (Lewisville)

11/27/20: Backdated I-129F "received date"

2/23/21: I-129F fee charged to bank account

2/25/21: Text alert NOA1 Receipt/Case Number

3/3/21 :  Received NOA1 Letter in the mail

Hello, another Cuban fiancé here, so if you are waiting for NOA2 you don’t have to worry about flights right now, the backlog in Guyana is so big that by the time you get an interview date Cuba will be back to normal with regular flights as per before COVID-19 😉

i sure hope so i had a trip booked through southwest for late jan. of this year and it got cancelled :(. I looked at your timeline and based on your response you still don't have an actual interview date which completely sucks but atleast you are a little further along in the process.

Nop I don’t have an interview date nor I’m close to be given one😅, just for you to have an idea, K1 cases with NOA2 may 2020 just started to be sent from NVC to Guyana’s embassy, plus the ones being sent, some of them are rescheduling cuz like you said almost no flights to go to Guyana so they can’t get there, I wish so much I was wrong but don’t make plans for this year unless a miracle, and again don’t worry about flights, they won’t be a problem for when our time comes, best of luck.

I do not know if this will help you feel any better, but my fiancé was not asked this question. She did interview in Australia and was only asked what I did for work, and how we met. Their job is really to make sure none of this is a fraud. Given the current conditions it is safe to know that you do not have a guaranteed flight to America if booked today. If that question does come up I think the best answer is that you will be booking your flight to your fiancé after you guys know for sure she is approved and she gets her passport back.

They do tell you not to book anything until you have your passport back, and some places are requiring to know your visa number ahead of time before finalizing your flight. They do not want you to fly there be denied and have to fly you back for free. Because in reality you do not know if everything is going to be okay. You might get rescheduled or need to provide more documents for the officer, which delays everything.

Hello,

we recently received our NOA 2 and they said they will be sending it to the NVC and we should hear from them within 30 days. I am also concerned regarding the flights to Guyana. It seems impossible to find one. Is there any word on them reopening the embassy in havana?

Hello,

To be honest there is little to no chance that the embassy in Havana will open anytime soon. It would be great because that would save use a time, money and a huge headache of having to travel to Guyana but unfortunately as it stands there are no plans for a reopening at the moment from the news I have heard.
