K3 / K4 finally approved!!! After 6 months of waiting...

We finally got our K3 / K4 visas today in the mail!!!

We are super happy, but first and foremost we would like to thank EVERYONE on visajourney.com for their help and support through this long and tedious process!!!!

Now on with the questions:

1. We finally got our K3/K4 visas today in the mail and my son's K4 visa lists his sex as "F", I also wanted information on what to do since we already bought our tickets to go to the USA on July 10 and I think that even attempting to contact the consulate could arise a delay in getting everything sorted out and finally going home.

Does anyone know if this could be a problem at the POE? I think its a minor error since his Passport says his sex as "M" and he is 5 years old... What does anyone advise? Should we just wait and try to contact the Consulate once in the USA???

2. After arriving in the USA how soon can my wife apply for a Social Security Number, Employment Authorization and her driver's license? What's the order that we should apply for this documents? How long do we have to wait for each one? How soon can she expect to be able to work and drive?

3. Also I filed form I-130 and I-129F as wife and not as a fiance shortly after receiving the I-130 NOA, I was wondering what is the path to follow once we get to the USA to do the AOS? How long does it it take for my wife to receive her Green Card? Is the process long? or is it easier now since my I-130 was approved the same day as the I-129F back in April 2007?

Sorry I don't know the answer to 1. But we just entered so are dealing with the same stuff.

Your wife can't get a drivers license until her EAD comes which looks like around a 45~50 day wait, that's when she gets her SSN, we got my wife an international drivers license before we left Taiwan to tide her over. She'll be unable to do most things without a SSN, like getting on your health insurance so I bought my wife travelers health insurance. I found that Bank of America let me add her on my bank accounts with her passport though.

Fees go from 575$ total to 1010$ on AOS and EAD applications postmarked after July 30th. So send them off ASAP. As soon as you get in you can file AOS and EAD simultaneously.

I used the AOS and EAD guide located here to do everything.

In which state are you? And is your wife allowed to use the international licence? For how long if so?
