HELP! Provincial Border Closure!

We are on our way to Montreal! Our interview is Monday, tomorrow which we waited 2 years for!! We turned away from the Quebec border and sent back to Ontario! They would NOT let us through even with paperwork and hotel reservation! We were told to come back day of interview!!!  This will take 2 hours and that is not including if we get stopped again for driving with Ontario plates!!  We have to leave about 4:30 AM!!!! Has anyone else had this issue??  What did you do... what can we do? Please respond ASAP.

This isn't good news for us. Our interview is may 26th and we're driving from Southern Ontario,  8 hours drive. We were going the day before. We also have a hotel booked. We waited 15 yrs for this and we had an interview booked last year and it was canceled cause of the pandemic. So we should have done this last year. I figured they'd let us through for something like this. 😕

We also came from Southern Ontario and had an 8 hour drive. Double check with the hotel and make sure you can cancel the day of your reservation. We are going to try to get through again today, but it’s 50-50. It’s stressful already getting prepared for the interview, this is a nightmare!!

Good luck! Keep us updated. We booked a hotel in cornwall on the Ontario side of the border just now as a backup just in case we get told no. At least they said come back day of interview and hopefully they let you through then. We will have 2 young children with us. What a nightmare. We just had our medicals done for the 2nd time cause ours expired from our last appointment.

 

Our interview is at 9:00am. We'll have to get up super early too. Not great with young kids. 

 

We are going to try calling Quebec police to get some info tomorrow and see what they say.

Thanks, we'll let you know. We are now staying in Cornwell as well right now. Our interview time is 7:45 so really early. The problem is we will be a target, because of our  Ontario plates, and can get stopped several times on the way, so it''s very unsettling. The Provincial police are the ones at the border. The one we met was truly awful. A bit threatening as well. Hopefully today will be better. We just had no idea! We thought because this is so important it would be ok. We were told the USA has no hold over Quebec and they do not have to honor anything. It was a horrible experience.

I'm so sorry. This is just awful. They did say come back the day of so hopefully they do let you in. Sending you positive thoughts and good luck. The initial border closure was only supposed to be until the 20th so we would have still been ok but now it's extended. 

 

Please if you can keep us updated on what happens. Really hoping for you all works out 🤞

I asked her, how did she travel from Ontario to quebec, she just told me she took a train. And asked her if someone asked why did she travel. She told me nope, nobody asked me. It happened during the lockdown. But anyway, Good luck to your interview! 😊

Can I asked what Ontario city/town you tried crossing over in when you were stopped? Were a lot of people there being stopped and turned away?
