Hi guys, I woke up this morning to an unfortunate event, my car got break in and my marriage certificate was in my bag... negligence on my part. However, I call the Marriage Registries in Nigeria for any supplement to make up for this loss. My only option according to the registrar was a certificate of true copy. Will this suffice uscis request for original copy and has anyone had similar experience? If so your input will be greatly appreciated.

The problem is I’m due to remove my condition this august... so they may need my original certificate for that.. I don’t know if I should call uscis to address this question

Have you looked at the evidence requirements for the i751?

YMMV

Yes and the require your original marriage certificate...

I think you need to read again.

1.  You never submit an original document to the USCIS with any petition or application

2.  Marriage certificate is not even mentioned as a requirement.

YMMV

Thank you for this, I have the soft copy of this document... do you think that will suffice during my application??

You can but not sure why you would send something that isn't even needed.   Best to concentrate on evidence that is and will benefit your chances of success

YMMV

Op, you can go get a certified marriage certificate for you keeps as suggested by the registrar.

As others have already mentioned, marriage certificate is not required for I-751, Removal of Conditions. I recently filed I-751 and marriage is not listed as required document. Don't sweat yourself over this as it pertains to I-751. Concentrate more on documents related co-mingling of finances for I-751.

Since when?  We didn't send a marriage certificate or a copy with my wife's I-751 package.
