So I have sent in my I-129F application for my Fiancee, but we wanted to know if there would be any issues if

her sister residing in the United States could apply for an F-1 visa from her current J1 using my Fiancee as her sponsor?

Would this be possible or would we run into issues if we tried this? Thank you!

Has her sister been accepted by a US college?  She would need the college to issue an I-20 before she can apply for F1 student visa status.  In order to get the I-20, she will need to show that she has the funds to attend for the duration of her degree.  Does your fiancee have the cash/assets to sponsor?

Being real, lacking $20,000 per year for tuition and living expenses is what usually ends the quest for a student visa.

Thank you so much for the information! I will ask her about that and get back to you!

So her sister already has been excepted into a school and is currently filling out the I-20. But my main question was if my Fiancee( who I just applied for a Fiancee visa to the US) could sponsor her sister for this? Thank you again!

She can sponsor her sister.  She will have to show she has the funds for her sister's education.

Just an FYI, it may or may not be relevant for you:

Your fiance, once everything is approved and she arrives in the US on a K1, will not be able to work for about 6-12 months. She will need to wait until she is married and applies for and receives her EAD (or AOS, but that takes longer).

If her funds for her sister's education is dependent on current income, that income will dry up.  It will not affect her sister this year, but perhaps year 2 or year 3 of the sister's education.

Sounds like she has the saving so why not, I can see there may be a question of timing if seeking to adjust status in country. When does her College start?

Thank you for this, I didn't really think about this. I remembered seeing the work authorization would only take a few months, but seeing how long the process is now I'm sure it could take much longer!

I will ask about that! I'm assuming it would either be this fall or next spring because her J1 extension lasts until October

It's going to take 6-8 months for your wife to get an EAD.

If you are relying on her getting a US job to sponsor her sister, then her sister is not going to get F1 student status.  She has to have money in the bank to show she can afford to sponsor her sister.  A future job will not cut it.

Cos to F1 by October would be unlikely
