My Immigrant Visa is Approved in Consulate General of Montreal

my priority date is July 2019

type of visa Eb3

DQ: March 17, 2021

Interview date: May 12, 2021

While my case is still in NVC, I wrote a letter request to expedite my case (Feb 2021)since I am a healthcare worker. Consulate of Montreal Approved it around April 18,2021 and gave me the schedule a week after. I booked an appointment for My Medical exam at Mediys on May 4 and got my results after 5 days.. you need to book it a week before your appointment Just to be sure. I also rented airbnb 5 mins walk to the consulate since you have to leave your things before getting in, in my case I left my phone on the Hotel. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to avoid waiting outside, they won’t call you unless it is your time already. Put all your documents in an envelope and dress properly for the weather. They will ask you first to show your passport before the check and you will go to the first floor and they will instruct you to go to a window where you will give your passport. You will wait around 15-20 mins then will call you back to a window, they will check your documents and biometrics. They will instruct you to wait until the consul call your name for the interview. Mine just took 5 minutes then she approved it. They are all nice there and very Professional. Just be sure your documents are complete because they already have the decision before interviewing you.

Good Luck!

airbnb cost- 400-500 dollars (7days stay)

medical exam -600-800 dollars (depends on your case)

Is so, then why conduct an interview?

Of course they will interview you, to make sure the information you gave on your application is correct and you are consistent with your answer. It depends on it if they will ask additional information or not that might affect their decision. You already gave your documents before going to the interview. Sometimes they might need an updated one especially the police clearance and other civil documents that has expiration dates.

Congratulations! I hope you have a nice smooth move to the US. We are in Toronto for our medicals right now. Our 2nd time as our interview was canceled last year from the pandemic. Our interview is May 26th for F3 family visa. Thank you for explaining what happens at the consulate 🙂

Hi, Just write them a letter stating that you are a healthcare worker, where are you working in the states, mention your DQ, your case number, your name and your petitioner, ask a letter from your employer that they are requesting for you to work asap after your visa has been approved. Be ready because if they will approve it, they will just give you 2 weeks to prepare. I attached a sample letter I hope it helps. That Time My papers are not yet in DQ but once they approved it, everything happened so fast. 4BAA79A5-0326-4CF6-A533-D2EA8BC50270.thumb.jpeg.4860a470bc59af58910f471abebe729e.jpeg

@Ambob depends on you, I wrote them first before asking the letter from my employer I showed them the screenshot from NVC that they approved my request. My employer sent it directly to NVC and Montreal Consulate. Maybe you can ask in advance. Good Luck! But be sure that Your priority date is Current because all of your efforts will be wasted.

@Julia0705: Congratulation on your visa approval. I am not sure  if you have an answer to my question but just wanted to take a chance to ask. Since yours is an expedited case, do you know which dq'd dates are they currently interviewing for non expedited eb3 cases. As per April visa statistics, Montreal seems to be interviewing eb3 cases but unable to know which dq'd dates are they interviewing since there aren't many eb profiles in Visa journey. I am waiting for my spouse's eb3 based follow to join interview to be scheduled in Montreal and not knowing any timelines makes me mad.

Appreciate your response in advance.

As of now, they are not fully operating and their priority are those who are applying for family based categories especially husband/wife and children of US citizens. What is the job of your spouse? Because if it falls to their critical mission such as Healthcare workers you might be able to expedite your case. If its not, the pre covid the wait time is around 2-3 months but now because of covid they cannot really tell you the exact waiting time because once it is back to normal they will be working for the backlogs based on your DQ’d date. You may end up waiting 5-10 months based on the other posts that I’ve read. Even the consulate cannot tell you the exact wait times. You just have to be patient.
