I said no to the second question because just because someone has a ribbon on their car doesn't mean I have to respect them....

there should have been an option for depends on the person...

that being said I do respect the troops who are fighting over there....

I think it was quite obvious that the respecting bit was of their patriotism and support. Who cares if they dont like the color blue, or hate cats, or any other reason you might not respect them. It s pretty clear that its about support. By answering "no" you've given enough info about yourself. thankyou.

Why would a person expect 'respect' based purely on whether they have a particular bumper sticker on their car? That seems rather dumb to me.

Respect is earned by what you do, not in how you promote yourself with self-advertising car stickers.

It really really matters on how you interpret what the "support the troops" bumper sticker is saying

A. Support their mission and all they are doing

B. Support their personal well being and wish no ill upon NO MAN

it really depends how you view that silly lickle bumper sticker

If you automatically say "yes", you have given enough info about yourself. Thank you

Of course you can take the totally negative interpretation that those with such a bumper sticker are: bumpersticker warriors -- those who wish they had the guts to serve, but instead slap a slogan on their car.

Do you think a person who has a "Support Our Troops" ribbon on the back of a car could be worthy of your respect?

The question was whether someone with a ribbon could be worthy of your respect.

In other words, the only "NO" answers I expected were from people who thought someone with a ribbon could not be worthy of their respect.

Really a meaningless question to be honest. Anyone 'could be' worthy of respect - but it would extremely tenuous to suggest that a car bumper sticker would be your only guide.

People make snap judgments all the time - but I wonder how many people would seriously claim to 'know someone' merely on the basis of what bumper stickers they have on their car. As such, I don't think the question really reveals anything.

People do exist who will automatically disqualify you from being worthy of their respect based on a political view or other personal characteristic.

Sure, but I don't think its any coincidence that people read "could be" as "is".

Yes, I do not think a bumper sticker, well i take that back, if someone was driving around with the word ni88er or jew or fags , that would be worthy of disrespect(no respect). IMHumbleO, but that sticker in and of itself is not at all, not even close to qualifying someone as deserving little to no respect. But I do believe that it does say something, either good or bad, about the thought process and attitude of the person
