I'm an ARMY brat and my stepdad is about to retire. I have heard him say numerous times: "I just had another soldier say to me, Sgt Major, i didn't know what I was getting myself into. I got in the army to support my wife and kid. The thought about going to war never crossed my mind."

I don't know. I think people need to really think about joining and all that comes along with it.

unless your stepdad's last name is major, it's SGM or CSM

Yes, I know it is CSM - I just figured the majority of the people on here would not know what it stood for so I said Sgt Major. Better to spell it out.

What the heck does intelligence have to do with having a sticker on the back of your car? DO YOU think it has too? I think this pole says a lot about the writer of this pole. I HAVE the ribbon, I am college educated and spent 24 years in the United States Air Force. I am proud of my service and the ones serving now.

I don't have a "support our troops" sticker on my car. But I respect those who do and I appreciate the sacrifices made by our troops.

I don't put alot of belief in stickers on cars ... when i set my cruise control to 5 mph over the speed limit and settle into the right lane for a nice leisurely cruise, i take time to notice many of the cars going past me like I am standing still with "I support the Sheriff/State Police/etc." or the little Christian fishy, or my favorite "WWJD" ... I really don't think the answer to WWJD is "20+ mph over the lawful speed limit!".

Now putting all this cynicism aside, I noticed a sticker once that I thought was probably the most truthful i have ever seen. While pumping gas, an old buick pulled up across from me, out stepped a young lady in skin-tight jeans and a tank-top. On the back of her car was a ribbon (similar in shape to the troop support ribbons) but this one was bright purple with white lining on the edge, and on it was printed "Support Lap-dancing".
