I don't really understand what you are saying there...so if they just have a support our troups sticker you don't judge their intelligence, but if they also have a Christian sticker you do? What if they just have Christian stickers and no troup stickers?

I don't get it.

By the way I have an old pro-life sticker on the back of my car, it's peeling off b/c it's been on there for years. I don't think I am stupid.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bumper stickers are just.....well....they make a mess when you want to remove them and they're not particularly attractive at all. I'm not one for using those magnetic ribbon thingies either. If someone wants to know my position on current events they can ask me. I feel no need whatsoever to clutter up my car with stickers, magnets, and other such "statements". IMHO, it's just to bring attention to yourself or to appear to follow the crowd.

Show your support by being supportive in other ways...ways that will make a difference. Anyone can put a sticker or magnet on a car...it doesn't mean that's what is truly in one's heart. THAT is what (I feel) my husband meant by the "jesus" stickers on cars (just because one has a "jesus" sticker or any other religious message on their car doesn't mean anything). As for this having anything to do with one's intelligence in general...I don't understand how one comes up with the intelligence connection. What does intelligence have to do with putting messy stickers and magnets on one's vehicle?

I am interested in the source of your info on how most soldiers do not want to be in Iraq or didn't know what they were getting into or were lied to.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything like that. I'm only trying to find out where these facts come from.

Many Thanks.

I have different sources of info .. people I know, things I've read, my stepfather who is a Command Sgt Major in the ARMY, and my husband who is a Captain and has had younger soldiers under him. A lot of young guys just getting out of high school join up because they think it's an easy way out - an easy way to make money. They don't feel like flipping burgers and don't wanna take the time to go to college. They do NOT think about getting sent to fight in a war. Most think that they won't get sent anywhere. Alot of soldiers sign up blindly because they are offered sign on bonuses and benefits. A free place to live, etc.

Just recently, my 23 year old cousin with 3 kids decided she was going to join the army. They promised her she would not get sent anywhere. When I looked up the MOS they are putting her into, it shows that there is a major shortage for that particular job - she is sure to go.

It is true that recruiters will tell you anything just to get you signed up. Hell, they get paid for every soldier they recruit. So yes, they will say oh no, you won't go anywhere, they won't need you for the job you will be doing. That's BS. It isn't up to the recruiter to make those decisions. The decision is made by the people at DA and they will choose you out of the computer based on your job.

My brother was lied to. They told him he would not go anywhere because he is only a cook. Well, they now have scheduled him to go to training in Ft Lee so he can go to Iraq by the end of the year.

They lied to my husband too. Promised he wouldn't go. Matter of fact, his recruiter and even his unit said that he would definitely NOT go anywhere. Yeah right.

I'm an ARMY brat and my stepdad is about to retire. I have heard him say numerous times: "I just had another soldier say to me, Sgt Major, i didn't know what I was getting myself into. I got in the army to support my wife and kid. The thought about going to war never crossed my mind."

I don't know. I think people need to really think about joining and all that comes along with it.

Putting something like "Support our Troops" on tha back of your car is no reflection in intelligence, imo -- if it were something ignorant or offensive, then it'd be a different story. I could definitely respect someone who has that on their car. As for putting one on my own car -- I'm not big on political statements of any kind, so I PROBABLY wouldn't, but who knows, maybe I would if my child were in the service or something.

What I am saying, and I do agree with you, if I had a child in the war I would put one on. But what I am saying is this is not at all saying support the troops, that is just a lickle saying that noone can disagree with, so it can not be contested. What I believe it is really trying to say is, support the war. IMHO, who would not wish harm upon any of the people caught in the war. I would hope noone, it is just a easy non-offensive way to say support this bloodbath. I DO!! :(

No it doesn't. It does not mean support this bloodbath. I will do it to support my husband who doesn't wanna even be there in the first place. Right now he needs me to be strong for him. It will not help any if I sit here and get angry at him, sit here cry around and everything else. I won't lie, I have been put on anxiety and depression pills because of this, however, I need to support him. I need to let him know everything will be okay while he is gone. I need to tell him things to keep him strong! It's not an easy task but it's my job. Do I support this "bloodbath"? Hell freaking NO!

I see, well i wish the very very best to your husband and your brother. What they did to them was not right at all, but not unexpected. I see, you do have to support them, I would also for sure. In your case I can see having a ribbon up. If I had a son, a wife, a brother, or sister in the war I know I would have a ribbon up too!!!

So I really do wish you all the best!, I wish everyone that is stuck in this bloodbath that Busch created, and still supports (just a little idiot guy) will come out of this on top. That is all i can hope for

I do not think that automotive iconography has any bearing on intelligence or educational attainment of the person who chose to display it on their vehichle.

Yes- I actually respect their loyalty to a cause they believe is good, they are supporting what or who they believe in.

No- I would never have one on the back of my Car, Thats is not say i have a lack of respect for those who do.

I think the whole ribbon and wrist band thing is getting out of control and has lost its touch.

I think people who put decals of Calvin Urinating on a competitors Car logo shows a sign of ignorance and immaturity,

What ever people put on thier card is their business, What they put on their car does influence my opinion of their character or intelligence if it is a positive thing such as automotive iconography like the Ichthus christian Fish or Support our troops, I even respect the Darwin Fish Eating the Ichthus Fish.

I agree with this completely. I think at this point people put these things on their car (or wrists) because everyone else is doing it, or wearing it, whether one truly believes it or not.

Isn't that what he said? Sgt Maj. is short for Sergeant Major.
