86 minutes is excessive. But because he was a long time IV drug user they couldn't get a vein. That is his fault and not the prisons fault. If we are to have executions (which I do think we should) I say we should be up-front about it. Make it quick, make it graphic and make it public. How about beheading? No suffering there and it is quick. Hanging is a sure way. We are just to squeemish about it.

Why?
I consider such a lawsuit (as Clark's son was executed for a crime he actually committed) as specious.

So, a countersuit is in order--10x is just easy to remember.

Beheading ~ the head stays alive for up to 2 minutes after being removed from the body :P . Plus the axe isn't a sure fire clean strike every time. Guillotines can also go wrong and not strike 100% cleanly. Hanging is also inhumane, death is not instantaneous if death doesn't occur from the neck breaking upon the fall.

So, my conclusions? Don't execute...at all. :P

But she hasn't done anything wrong, all she cares about is that her son suffered for 86 minutes and it shouldn't have happen that way...

Maybe she hopes that by bringing this to the attention of people it can be prevented from happening again.

or thirsty and give you something to drink?

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in,

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in,

When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,

you did for me.'

I feel sorry for his Mother but there is no sympathy here for him. I had a loved one that was brutally murdered so please excuse if I am sounding a little callous.

86 minutes or 1 minute, perhaps to long or maybe not long enough for him to realize the pain that he has caused to his victim and the victims family, the family that will never see their loved one again because of this murderer.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

Would you be willing to "endorse" the prison filing a countersuit against her?

Wow, Christians

It has nothing to do with sympathy, but with humane treatment.

If we all followed the "Eye for an eye..." the whole world would be blind.

Jesus preached compassion and the power of forgivness. Nothing liberates a person more than to forgive.

Naturalized! Yeah!

Can't see what that would accomplish. Like I had mentioned, the mother lost had her son and I feel bad for her.

Where did I say I was a Christian?? I have compassion for the victim. To bad his execution lasted as long as it did, just dont have much sympathy for the murderer. You can pray for him if you wish and hope his God gives him the compassion that he delt out.

No surprise the closet sadism comes out in this thread - just as it does in the countless threads about sexual predators. The predictable, clicheed response is almost always along the lines of:

"He should be done up the #######, have his fingernails pulled out and lit matches placed between his toes". Or some such b/s. Lovely sentiments. I wonder how many people who trot out those kinds of statements would actually be willing to put on a black leather hood and actually carry out their apparent desires. Not many, I suspect.

Frankly - they should be ashamed of themselves and their own inhumanity. Assuming they mean it of course... That said condoning torture its a disgusting subject to even joke about.

Personally I'd like to believe we live in a country where people are rightly appalled by brutality (including that committed by murderers and other criminals) but at the same time want to see justice done in an impersonal humane manner. Yet you have people who seem to idolise the brutal judicial sentences carried out in parts of the middle-east, in which context of course the behaviour is invariably considered disgusting, barbaric and an indictment on those country's human rights record.

I guess I just don't get it (shakes head).
