Hi, does anyone know what site I could go to to check the current entry/departure status of the Philippines and US given all the country-based COVID restrictions?

My wife wants her mom (82 years old) to come visit us in the US someday but we don't know how to find out:

  • is the Philippines even allowing citizens to leave the country? If so, what do they need to go through? quarantine before departure? covid test?
  • is the US even accepting Philippine citizens right now? If so, is there a quarantine upon arrival?
  • is the US even addressing Tourist visa's right now?

Similarly, we would like to know when we can go visit her family in the Philippines. Is the US allowing departures and is the Philippines allowing citizens and non-Filipino citizens (me) to enter?

I appreciate anyone who explains the current state of things to us, but it would be nice if there was a site like USCIS or Philippine embassy or something where we could check regularly.

Thanks!!!

Going there the rules seem to change almost weekly, last I heard the Philippines was only allowing 2000 people per day to enter the Philippine, so flights are limited.  In general you can enter with your spouse/sibling with you but you as a US Citizen will need a visa.  Plus they have a 10 day quarantine plus a COVID test you must take during your stay at an approved quarantine hotel, after that you must do 4 more days of self quarantine.   So then you may or may not have each province you go to require extra requirements or quarantines, but as usually in Philippine nothing is the same, different rules for different areas.

Yes you can enter the US from Philippines, just need the 3 day prior COVID test,  Tourist Visa Interviews has been suspended for a long time, he she already has a tourist visa then she can enter USA.  I would check with PAL or what ever airline she flies to see what updated silly requirements are needed to leave.

Not really a good time to go to the Philippines

There a some Philippines usually the ones with money who already have a tourist visa who are coming to the USA just to get the Corona Virus Vaccine.  The USA does not require anyone to provide a SSN nor prove legal presence to get the COVID Shot.

Greetings!

These references may help you. And yes I agree with Joe Kano that the rules kept changing. NG

Yes, Filipinos are allowed to leave at this time.  @nelmagriffin posted a helpful link on the outbound travel requirements.

Yes, the US allows travel of passengers from the Philippines, as long as they have a valid visa and negative COVID test results within 3 days of travel.  As far as I know, the Philippines has never been included in any of the COVID travel ban proclamations.

As for quarantine on arrival, it depends on the destination state.  Check your state's requirements for out-of-state travelers.

If your mother-in-law does not already have a valid tourist visa, it's not likely that she'll be able to visit this year.  The US embassy in Manila still has not resumed routine B visa processing.  Last I heard, the earliest available slots for B visa interview appointments are set for March 2022.

Other than issuing travel advisories, the US has not restricted outbound travel for its citizens during this pandemic.  But the airline will let you know upon check-in if you meet the requirements to travel to the destination country.  If not, they won't let you board the plane.

As for traveling to the Philippines, non-citizens may need a visa and an exemption waiver, among other requirements.  Please check the US embassy's COVID information page which is regularly updated with the latest news on travel requirements to the Philippines -- https://ph.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
