either i'm extra slow today or i still don't see where you said i should notify of my address change? dos or consulate? or both?

I think we're both saying neither.

Your address is not relevant at this point in the game. My feeling is that informing them of a new address right now has the potential to cause more delays than anything.

But doesnt she have a Point? When he writes his address on the card... it would be a different address from the original papers..

Yes, which is why I suggested bringing along a letter to explain.

Just from you. It doesn't need to be anything official, just an explanation. I'm sure if your husband were comfortable explaining it himself, that would be fine as well. There's nothing that says that the addresses must be the same, it's just something to have if you're nervous about it. I don't think I've even heard of anyone being asked about the discrepancy at POE.

eta: This was the case for us as well. The address he put on the I-94 was different from that of the K1 paperwork. I didn't give him any letter, just told him to say I'd moved since if they happened to ask. They didn't.

where is this I 94 form I keep on reading about... Is it on here?

The I-94 is the form that non-USC's have to fill out on the plane when entering the U.S. They will staple a portion of the form into your passport as proof of entry when you pass through immigration. You'll have to send a copy of the I-94 in with AOS.

as far as i know that is the paper they get to bring with them when they come, dee. in that brown envelope.

The brown envelope doesn't contain the I-94. It just has all of the visa paperwork submitted.

A piece of advice based on the situation one former MENA member found herself in...as soon as you SO arrives, copy his entire passport, including back and front of the 194, in case his passport is lost or stolen. Then at least you have proof that he entered legally. Her SO lost his passport after merely 2 weeks here, and they are having all kinds of grief because he has no proof of his identity or that he came here legally. They have had to pay nearly $200 to get duplicates of certain items from the US govt.

You don't need to worry about it in terms of informing USCIS until you file for AOS. Just put the new address when you file the I-485.

then what's this form for?

You have not yet started AOS, and therefore should not use the AR-11.

I don't know why no one believes me.

I believe you.. I'm just confused

I believe you and That's what I am trying to say also.

Neither DOS nor USCIS needs to be notified of the USC address change. The fiance can bring a letter/statement showing a new address, but I do not think even that is necessary (but just to be prepared for any discrepancies. The fiance's addmittance to the POE is not dependent on the address matching the original petition, he just needs to give immigration at the POE an address which he can be found.

Here's another thread about it: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66628

Although some people gave some incorrect info there too about using the AR-11. In short, nobody cares about your address right now. :P

i appreciate you guys taking the time to give advice! i'll type up that letter now!

do you think its okay to email it to him and he print it out?

No problem.

Yeah, I'm sure emailing it will be just fine. Chances are very good that he'll have no reason to show it.

sweet! thanks ladies! :star: you two are always so helpful in giving advice! i appreciate it!

I agree again with Jenn that the email is a fine way to send and that he is likely to have no need for it anyway.

Thanks jen
