hi all. as some of you know my fiance just recently had his k-1 visa interview and it went well. we are now in AP/AR for further name checks.

i just moved to another state. do i need to tell dos, uscis, the consulate? or all of the above? or should i wait to tell them? do you think it will it possibly hold up our case longer?

You don't need to worry about it in terms of informing USCIS until you file for AOS. Just put the new address when you file the I-485.

If I were you though, I'd just send him a statement about the address change, including the old address and the new one. That way when he comes through POE, if they notice the discrepancy between the address he gives on his I-94 and the previously recorded address, he'll be prepared to explain.

If I were you, I would let each office know of your change of address. Just to be on the safe side. You never know when they may send some piece of paper that you need OR if they were to print some official documents that had your old address and then you might have to get it redone with the new address.

I have found it best to always make sure they have the most current info...doesn't mean that they will enter it...but at least you sent it.

what, mbp? ;) you'd tell the consulate/dos now and send the fiance a letter to bring?

sorry...agreeing with Jenn. since USCIS is now finished with their part of the K-1 visa, there is no need to make that change now. I'd give your fiance a letter noting the change of address so IF immigration at teh POE notices a discrepancy, he would have something to show them. I doubt they will notice the change of address, but sicne they do open the original petion they might double check the address he puts onthe i-94.

Just to add, he is coing on a fiance visa and this does not mean his address will be the same address as yours. Of course 99% of the time it is. He is nt giving an address at eh POE to prove he is entering legally, he is giving immigration and ICE ntoice of where he will be if they need to find him.

The I-94 is the form that non-USC's have to fill out on the plane when entering the U.S. They will staple a portion of the form into your passport as proof of entry when you pass through immigration. You'll have to send a copy of the I-94 in with AOS.

as far as i know that is the paper they get to bring with them when they come, dee. in that brown envelope.

The brown envelope doesn't contain the I-94. It just has all of the visa paperwork submitted.

The I-94 is also something you have to submit when you leave the country (not sure the absolute conditions when this is or is not applicable). My hubby did not have it stapled in the passport and i was terrified we would lose it carrying the passport around. Now that he is a PR, I don;t think he needs to surrender it upon leavng the coutnry, but we are keeping it just in case.

I think we're both saying neither.

Your address is not relevant at this point in the game. My feeling is that informing them of a new address right now has the potential to cause more delays than anything.
