When can we file for naturalization?

Ok, I've gotten lots of answers on this question so I need the real one!

My husband entered the US Jan 25, 2006 on a K1. We were married April 22, 2006. He recieved his greencard November 26, 2006. When can we file for his naturalization?

What is the date on the GC? You can apply for citizenship 90 days before the third anniversary of receiving permanent resident status, as defined by the date on the GC.

Oh man that's longer than I thought. So August 26th, 2009? as November 26, 2009 will be 3 yrs after he got his green card. Bummer ok thanks Jenn!

Not neccissarily Aug 26th. It is 90 days from the 3 year anniversery, not 3 months. So you need to count back exaclty the days. So pull out a calendar and then count back. To be safe, apply when you're 80-85 days from the anniversery. Some people have had issues filing on the exact 90 day mark. 91 days and you will have it returned to you. Many people have this happen when they think it's exactly 3 months (rather then 90 days)...
