They are incorrect.  Is there a US embassy liaison there at the airport?

No there is not. We have showed them everything and they refuse to try and even understand or read any of the information. They are forcing us to the US embassy and they aren’t open until tomorrow

I am so sorry this is happening.

It may be worth going to another carrier's counter - say American Airlines- and asking them to call the Spirit Airlines counter.

Did you try calling the US consulate in Cancun?

Alternatively, you can call Spirit Airlines customer service and hopefully you can escalate the call.

I would try other airlines.

Airline don't care about an a web page that discusses employment. If she is directing the airline to look at an I-9 web sites and not a CBP website, she isn't going to get any traction.

@Kitta&Owen I would just go to another airline and ask them to educate the Spirit Airlines agent.

Ok plan B. He is from the UK right?

Get an ESTA. Sometimes they are instant.

When he lands in the USA, he should present his passport and identify himself as a green card holder.

Note to self: never ever fly Spirit Airlines.

Plan C : fly American Airlines home.

Plan D is fly to Juarez now. Walk into El Paso. Then do a credit card charge back on your Spirit Airlines ticket. Then fly from ELP to DFW on American Airlines.

It is a waste of time to go to the embassy. The airline wants him to get a Lincoln Boarding Foil. The embassy isn't going to give him one because he had a valid I-551. And those cost hundreds of dollars anyway. Spend your money on a different plane ticket to DFW, either through Juarez / ELP or non stop to DFW.

Unfortunately all it needs is for the airline staff to just actually read the info on the visa in the passport 🤬. Shouldn’t be this hard

LPR can’t get an ESTA.

The meaning of the word "endorsed" might be a problem for non native English speakers. The real problem is that the airline does not train people on the CBP Carrier Information Guide which is even in a dozen or so languages.

How do you know they cannot? Be sure you understand the word "can" and the context. "May not" is not the same as "cannot"

Is it just like "dual citizens cannot get ESTA"? Cuz I know that isn't true.

Haha, it's the best I could come up with. Your ESTA idea is worth a shot. he will either get it or not, and if it is declined, then hopefully, it will state that he is an LPR. I would think it would just go through.
