A year ago when we had our initial interview appointment (before it was canceled due to the pandemic) I remember reading here about being able to apply for employment Insurance in Canada to help while you transition from Canada to the US (after moving to the US) while you are looking for a new job in the US.

Is this something that you can do? I searched but can't find anything here.

If so can anyone advise and provide any links for applying?

Thank you!

Thank you! Do I apply on line like normal? Do I apply after we're there?

I did this back in 2012 after I came in on K1 so things may be a bit different now. I had to wait until my AOS application was approved and I received my GC. Once I had that, then I called the number listed above. They should be able to give you information. Back then I spoke to an actual person but things could have changed. Collecting Canadian UI benefits is called an out of state UI claim Hope that helps if you have to google anything.

Hope that this helps and good luck

Awesome thanks! So looks like I apply on line when I'm able to work (so after we're in the US) and I need a record of employment too. Very helpful!
