UK citizen living in USA for 30 years, can I get UK fiancee visa for Russian citizen?

I have lived in the USA for over 30 years, and got my US Citizenship, but still have maintained my UK citizenship also.  I have been with a Russian national for the past few years and we have a 1 year old child together (she and the child live in Russia).

I have an active fiancee visa for the USA in process, but with the news that the Russians are forcing a reduction in headcount at the Russian embassy, I am wondering if I can get a UK fiancee visa for her and she and our daughter could go to the UK?  Of course that means I would also need to go to live in the UK.

From what I have read online, the applicant needs not to have been out of the country for more than 270 days after application, but it seems she is considered the applicant, not me.... is that correct?

If anyone else knows of a way that having UK citizenship can help get her and our daughter to the USA (or to the UK) then we are open to hearing it.

Sponsoring seem the obvious problem as far as the UK is concerned.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Can you explain what you mean?  Do you mean the financial/support aspects or the fact that I have been living outside the UK for a long time?

From a couple of sites, I have read that the UK citizen must either already live in the UK or intend to return to live in the UK if the application is successful.

I realize this would entail my moving back to the UK for a pretty substantial period of time, but the alternative could be that my (to be) wife and child and I can't be together until Russia-USA relations improve, but who knows when that would be, if ever.

Meeting the financial requirements.

Thank you for the clarification.  From my reading of the regulations, I think I could meet the requirements without issues.   I own a business in the USA and I also have enough savings and investment account balances to cover the necessary required amounts... I will dig a little further and learn what I can.

I would check to make sure US assets are OK, I do not know if that would be an issue. Also check www.britishexpats.com as they have a forum for moving back to the UK.
