How long to charge me $ for I-485

Hi

We sent our I-485 package on April 17 by registered mail and included the credit card payment form on top of the documents. It tracked as "delivered" on Sunday April 24 (somehow, mail on Sunday?). It's now April 30. No money has come out of my account. How long should I expect them to charge me for the I-485 fees?

Thank you so much

2-3 months. That's the current time frame during COVID

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Oh it's because of Covid? I wonder why the local casino here is fully open and able to instantly charge your card for poker chips despite operating in the same country. Maybe they ought to send over some tips on how to run things during a pandemic :)

Processing payments requires them to have someone open packages and intake documents.  That clearly isn't happening as regularly right now.

Someone who filed on 4/6 got receipt texts last night.  Another from 4/1 got receipt texts the other day.  That may give you an indication of what's currently making its way through (though I'm sure there are plenty of others still waiting).

Thanks for the info. Everything is operating normally in my neck of the woods and has been for months. I actually didn't know there were parts of the country so stricken that people are unable to open envelopes and type in numbers. This is quite surprising for me. Thanks again! I'll look for the money to come out in a couple of weeks. I appreciate the help.

So if her K-1 expires in the meantime, what proof does she have that she is legally allowed to stay in the US? The mail receipt?

As far as I can tell, there's really no proof between i-94 expiring and getting the i-797C or whatever.  So, stay out of trouble while you wait :).  Hopefully things get moving sooner than later.

Well that's one heck of a setup! I wouldn't stay in a foreign country with an expired visa. Very odd that people would have to do it here. Thanks
