Hi

I just received my NOA2 and noticed that there is a validity date on the notice - it is valid for the next 4 months.  The current processing times show that it will take around 4 months for my application to go through the NVC and be received at the embassy.  Is there any issue if the NOA2 is no longer valid by the time NVC is done processing?  Should we plan on the interview to occur within the NOA2 validity date?

NVC only takes about a month to process K1.  K1 petitions are expedited by default, because all NVC has to do is create a case number and ID number, and assign it to the proper embassy.

The rest of the time the K1 petition stays at NVC is due to the embassy is not being ready to handle it, either by volume of petitions, or in the past year, Covid related closures.

Most, if not all, embassies have automatically extended the I-129F approval date due to the pandemic.  If you are unsure, contact your embassy.  NVC typically would not have that information.

thanks for the response.  I'm unclear on what numbers to believe - the visajourney flowchart https://www.visajourney.com/guides/k1-fiance-visa-flowchart/says 1-4 week which align with what you're saying

but the trends page shows 91 days for NVC processing time.  what do you think?

Contact your embassy sometime closer to the interview, or when they receive it, to make sure it will not expire.  3 months from now, see where you are in the process.  Then you can contact the embassy depending on what part of the process you are in.

You can't compare anything written pre pandemic with today

YMMV
