Hello.  I came to the United States on a K1 visa, got married.  I filed Form 765 for a work permit and also went to SSA to get an SSN.  I expect the SSN to arrive earlier than the USCIS work permit.  Can I start working after I receive an SSN number before I receive a work permit from USCIS?

No.  Your SS card will say "not valid for work without DHS authorization."

 

The EAD is that authorization.

 

This is a major and well-known drawback of doing a K-1 visa.
