USPS missing package! How to refile?

Our AOS package was mailed on 4/20, but according to USPS tracking has never left the post office. I have filed the appropriate inquiries with USPS, but they've basically said "we don't know anything."

Has anyone else experienced this? When did you refile your paperwork? How did you alert USCIS that if they receive duplicate paperwork to ignore it?

Related it that my husband's I-84 departure date is fast approaching in early May. Should we file an extension on his visitor visa or just hustle to refile his AOS paperwork?

Thank you for all the input!

Send AOS paperwork again and use UPS (not USPS). Fedex is also horrible, at least these days. Don't bother with the visitor visa extension. It'll be a waste of time and money. Once you guys get the AOS receipt notices, it won't matter that his current status as a visitor will be over.

I would wait a little longer. But if you decide to resend the package, make sure you cancel the payment on the first package.

No.  I would get a proper I-485 package filed as soon as possible.

My friend sent with USPS. It was essentially sitting with USCIS the entire time with no update on USPS tracking. He got receipts 3 months later.

How do I know it was with USCIS a week after he had sent them? The PD for the receipts was for the week he had sent them. So, it basically means USCIS had it the entire time.

You can just wait or resend with UPS. Regardless of UPS/ USPS/ FEDEX, it is currently taking USCIS 2-3 months to cash checks and issue receipts. So I would just let the submission that you already sent stay in place.

As someone already pointed out, forget about the extension, especially if you are a USC. The extension will take like 6 months before you hear anything. So why waste money? Your receipts from AOS will be back in half that time.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

It is appropriate to go to the post office and ask for your package back.

The package is likely with USCIS. OP will not see or hear anything for 2-3 months. This is the trend during COVID

Indeed. And going to post office to ask for the package will confirm that it has left the building.

It is also a good practice run for the inevitable: USCIS will send a document or even a card to OP, and misdeliver it. OP needs to learn to go to USPS each time a document isn't delivered.

Sometimes USPS don't scan packages, they simply miss it, it doesn't mean the package is just laying around somewhere. And if they don't scan the package then the tracking won't show any movement either. Likely it's been delivered to USCIS without being scanned.

That happened to my conditional greencard, I almost freaked out. It was delivered to me just fine, in an envelope with a clear tracking number and barcode, but it was never scanned so I had no idea if USCIS had even shipped it or not.
