Hello,

Filling out an I-129f (again lol) to see if it has any impact on our I-130.

On page 3, there is a question - Have you ever been previously married?

This is my first marriage. So yes, I'm married now, but not previously married. Does that mean this answer is no? :)

Found love, thought I wanted this path, two years later realized my partner was not worth all the stress 😁

Correct, the answer is no. If this is your first marriage, then you have not been previously married prior to this marriage. As in many USCIS things, you need to go for the plainest reading of the question. :)

I would answer "No" since it also asks for when the marriage ended.   Are you trying the K3 "trick"???

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes, I was wondering this too. I thought the K3 was essentially dead and filing the I-129F didn't speed up adjudication of the I-130. That's what I remember reading about it, but maybe things have changed again?

I saw that someone was recently successful, but it is the first time in a year or so that I have seen it work in getting a faster approval of an I-130.

Let us know if the K3 filing helps.

As to the OP question, I agree, no would be the proper answer.

Thank you!! :)

So then, down the page, when it says Have you ever filed Form I-129F for any other beneficiary?

Is the answer still no? I did file for THIS beneficiary then we withdrew due to marriage. I know these are such dumb questions.

The answer is "yes" if you previously filed an I-129f.  These questions are literal in nature....although they sometimes require an explanation.

Thank you. I guess the "any other" wording is throwing me off. And yes I am trying the "trick" although who knows if it will work. I thought I might as well try.

They aren't dumb questions! I have been there before, believe me. I filed for a I-129F for my first husband and the whole K1 process was agonizing and I second guessed myself again and again. We got an RFE and it was... the end of the world! (~cue dramatic music~) But it was resolved quickly enough and on we went. AOS was then a pain in the butt, but I was more used to the forms by then and though I took my time, it wasn't hard because I'd learned from the previous experience. ROC was a total non-issue by the time we got there. Now I'm doing AOS with my second husband from an L1 and it was like, oh, this garbage again?

The most important things I learned along the way were to (1) take my time (2) read everything (3) read everything again (4) have your spouse/fiance look it over (5) read it again! I didn't post on VJ the first time around, but I have learned there is a step (6): Ask questions on VJ, even the dumb ones. :star:

Thank you for the kind words!! :) 💖 Yes, so many forms, paperwork, reading, double checking. Hopefully one day I will be on the other side and will be able to pass along knowledge too. We are about 1 year in (filed for I-129f, then cancelled and got married), so we still have a ways to go.

Regarding paperwork, the awesome member pushbrk says, "Read carefully, interpret literally, and answer completely & honestly."  This advice has never failed.

What a great signature line.......
