Anyone have medicals completed late?

We got our rescheduled interview with Montreal today. May 26th. But the earliest medical exam appointment we could get was May 20th. The doctor said we should be ok still for timing but if not they'll still interview and wait for them.

Of course I'd rather have everything we need so no delays. He said it's common right now cause of the backlog.

Anyone else have their medical come through after the interview? If so what happened? Did you get a 221g? And if so how long did it take to finish processing and you heard back from the consulate?

This is a very common sequence.  Attend the interview as scheduled.  You will, likely, receive a 221g.  Once the consulate has received the medical exam, they will process it.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I've heard it's common especially with the backlog from the pandemic. Any idea how long it usually takes them to process after they receive it?

I'm not sure.  Hopefully, a Montreal interviewee can answer that.  It is pretty common....good luck on the remainder of your journey.

I think a couple of others have had this.  For the most part, a couple of weeks.  You can always check with the Consulate to ensure receipt and if it's more than a week, just "nudge" them to make sure they haven't forgotten.

That said, if the doctor's office is confident your medical will be there on time, there's a good chance it will be.  They've switched to sending digitally, and it seems to be going quite smoothly.

Thank you. The doctor was nice enough to fit us in a week earlier than we had initially so now we are booked for May 13th. So that should be enough time to not feel rushed and stressed. 🙂

Excellent!  That will definitely ease some of the stress!

It's a super easy medical though.  Bring a book in case it's busy and you get stuck waiting.  Make sure you have your vaccination records.  Easy peasy!

Yes it's not bad just time consuming. Unfortunately this is our 2nd time doing our medicals as our interview appointment was canceled 5 days before last year due to the pandemic. So we had already done our medicals and now they are expired. At least ww know what to expect this time haha.

Our medicals were the first week in March 2020, interview the 9th and they shut the consulate down at the end of that week.  We made it through by the skin of our teeth.  We crossed the border when it was technically closed, too.

So sorry you're having to pay for those medicals twice!  Hopefully the rest is smoooooth sailing!

Do you have to do the xray again?  That seems redundant since you've been stuck where you're at!

There were 3 of us.  Not a cheap undertaking for so little!
