How long are visas valid after they are issued?

hi there, i am currently applying for my husband's visa via DCF london. we want to schedule his interview, but at the moment are still working out when we'd like to move to the US. once his visa is issued, how long is it valid for? many thanks!

great, thanks! can we enter within six months, formalize his visa and then temporarily return to the UK for, say, five months to tie up loose ends here and then permanently move to the US?

Sure, once he enters the US with the spousal visa and CBP endorses his passport, he will now have a temporary GC for up to 12 months.

Exactly what we did

 

Keep the loose ends under 6 months if you can and you definitely need to pay the green card fee and provide an address at initial entry for the GC/SS card to be mailed to
