If this rule is aimed at high income individuals, why the small limit for reporting?  Btw, does anyone trust the IRS or the Federal government with respect to this?

I was filling up my truck yesterday. The pump cut off. I realized there was a 75 buck max pay at pump limit.  3/4 of tank. Thank you biden

U.S. Consumer Prices Increase Solidly in September

 

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. consumer prices increased solidly in September and are poised to rise further in the months ahead amid a surge in the costs of energy products, which would cast doubts on the Federal Reserve's view that high inflation is transitory.

 

The consumer price index rose 0.4% last month after climbing 0.3% in August, the Labor Department said on Wednesday. In the 12 months through September, the CPI increased 5.4% after advancing 5.3% year-on-year in August.

 

Excluding the volatile food and energy components, the CPI climbed 0.2% after edging up 0.1% in August, the smallest gain in six months. The so-called core CPI rose 4.0% on a year-on-year basis after increasing 4.0% in August.

I am on board with making people pay their share of taxes.  But this rule will hurt the lowest income folks more than middle- or upper-class, IMO.  And cost untold tax dollars trying to track and collect a tiny pittance on such small transactions.

But Yellen said there is a lot of tax cheating going on, so we need to open the bank accounts to IRS scrutiny.  I do love it when they use the analogy of banks reporting interest income, this is clearly different, but apparently Yellen is much much smarter than all of us.

Gr8. Then let's defund the IRS and go to a flat tax that kicks in well above the Poverty level. Say around 60K for a family of 4. Everyone pays their fare share and the rich dont get loop holes. Its really that easy

This is more about the government tracking all of our transactions and less about catching tax cheats.

It's sad when I have to work almost a whole 8 hour shift to fill up my tank for the week.

I would say 60k for single people and 120k for families. Also I would rather see government spending slashed dramatically so everyone's taxes can go down.
