Inflation never went away

 

The government announced Wednesday morning that inflation rose 0.4% in March, part of a 3.5% increase on an annual basis.  The rise, which clearly means that inflation is not subsiding, took some big media outlets by surprise.  The New York Times said the increase in prices was "unexpectedly sharp."  The Washington Post called it "hotter than expected."

For months, commentators in some of those outlets had praised President Joe Biden for bringing inflation under control.  Some actually urged the president to be more aggressive in claiming credit for it.  After Wednesday morning, there was less of that kind of talk.

Virtually all the media assert that Israel is becoming ever more isolated in its war against Hamas.  What goes unmentioned is a major reason for that:

‘Are you kidding me?’: Biden-appointed judge torches DOJ for blowing off Hunter Biden-related subpoenas from House GOP

 

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden appointee on the federal District Court in Washington, spent nearly an hour accusing Justice Department attorneys of rank hypocrisy for instructing two other lawyers in the DOJ Tax Division not to comply with the House subpoenas.

 

“There’s a person in jail right now because you all brought a criminal lawsuit against him because he did not appear for a House subpoena,” Reyes said, referring to the recent imprisonment of Peter Navarro, a former Trump trade adviser, for defying a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee. “And now you guys are flouting those subpoenas. … And you don’t have to show up?”

 

“I think it’s quite rich you guys pursue criminal investigations and put people in jail for not showing up,” but then direct current executive branch employees to take the same approach, the judge added. “You all are making a bunch of arguments that you would never accept from any other litigant.”

Lord Help Us:  Biden Needs a Really Detailed Cheat Sheet With World Leaders

 

During an Oval Office meeting with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia'a Al-Sudani, observers noticed President Joe Biden holding an extremely detailed crib sheet to get through the meeting.  And when I say detailed, I mean detailed.

"Biden, 81, turned to the script — which included an all-caps stage direction on when to pause in his comments to allow for an interpreter to translate — to make his first public statement since Iran launched an unprecedented direct missile and drone attack on Israel over the weekend," noted the New York Post.  "The president glanced down at his script repeatedly as he sat beside Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia'a Al-Sudani."

It's worth noting that Al-Sudani didn't rely on any script or crib sheet during his remarks after Biden's.  [...]
