Senate Democrats reach deal on $3.5 trillion reconciliation package

 

Senate Democrats on Tuesday announced they struck a deal on a $3.5 trillion price tag for a Democrat-only infrastructure package that will expand Medicare and strengthen social safety net programs — and skirt Republicans staunchly opposed to more federal spending.

 

Combined with a $579 billion bipartisan infrastructure deal, the party-line agreement would amount to $4.1 trillion in fresh spending. It's among the largest spending bills ever taken up by Congress as Democrats aim to wield their slim majorities and level the playing field within the economy.

New concern for Biden: Could Larry Summers be right about inflation?

 

There is a new fear circulating inside the West Wing of the White House: Maybe Larry Summers was right.

 

The former Treasury secretary has been warning since February that President Joe Biden’s big-spending agenda was creating the risk of an inflation spike this year, potentially cutting into the economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

One does NOT need to be a financier to know that when you spend 500 times what you bring in, there will be hell to pay somewhere down the line.  I think that somewhere will be between October of this year and June of next year.  Just a SWAG.

I dimly remember that Pres. Reagan, shortly after he took office, released uncirculated currency from the Federal bank vaults to help counteract inflation.

 

If that indeed worked, and if counterfeiting the older currency (which had fewer preventive elements) would not be a concern, perhaps try it.

I thought we were limiting the number of COVID-19 threads, oh well.  I did find this in your article:

It was 6.9 when Trump left office, and as of June it was 11.5. The trend is clear, the administration has shown no plausible method of stopping or reversing it, and the Biden societal miracle has produced a crime wave and a flood of illegal unskilled immigrants as well. There’s also the general harassment of vaccination non-enthusiasts, but I can’t face it this week.
