Interesting that Joe is going places that most of the Democrats have all but abandoned.

This is true, but not the way Biden intended.  It should read "lack of leadership".  The White House actually tweeted this.  It was so misleading that Twitter fact checked it.

I don’t see it.  History lesson time. 
 

The party tried to dump Truman in 1948. He wasn’t primary’ed  because the Democrats didn’t hold primaries (unlike the GOP).  There were credible challengers at the convention but Truman  handily won the nomination and then an upset win in the general.   He didn’t have to waste a campaign war chest  to secure a nomination, and instead get had a better ground game than Dewey.  Republican voters just stayed home on Election Day, thinking, like  Democrat voters in 2004 and 2016, that the lies the media  told  were true: that the election was over and so no need to vote.  
 

But in 1952 Truman  was primary’ed and he lost New Hampshire badly. He dropped out.  FYI Truman was exempt  from the 2 term limit as the amendment was written to exclude anyone who was a president before the amendment took effect.  
 

When Johnson was primary’ed in 1968, like Truman he saw the hand writing in the wall after he narrowly won the New Hampshire  primary and RFK  then entered the primaries. And FYI Truman was exempt from the 2 term limit because his first term was under 2 years served. 
 

1976, Reagan primary’ed Ford and nearly won at convention.  Ford lost the general by a whisker. Had Reagan stayed home in 1975-1976, Ford cruises to victory.  
 

When Ted Kennedy primary’ed Carter in 1980, Carter was so weakened by the process, that he lost in a land slide.

 

In 1984, Reagan was in a weak position due to the economy, and he won 51 of 51 primaries. He lucked out when the Democrats nominated Mondale over Hart.  

 

  George Bush senior was primary’ed in 1992 by Buchanan, weakened, and lost to Clinton in the  general.   Clinton who was an awful nominee and the only reason Clinton got the nomination was because Bush seemed unbeatable coming off 90 percent approval ratings after the first Iraq war.  I’’m sure Mario Cuomo’s last thought before he died was: “what was I thinking by not running in 1992?”

 

Bush II in 2004 was ripe for a loss, and most people (except me) were convinced he would lose the general to Kerry.  The Democrats still claim that election was stolen.  But nobody in the GOP primary’ed him and set a record at the time for popular votes.  
 

Hillary  Clinton was rumored to have considered primary’ing Obama in 2012 given Obama’s chances for re-election seemed weak.  But Obama lucked out when  the GOP nominated a born loser who architected ObamaCare. And was a walking gaffe machine.  
 

Trump is  an exception that proves the pattern. He was weakened by Covid.  Not being primary’ed he should have won.  Had he won  Wisconsin, Michigan, and  Pennsylvania, he would have won the election.  Since 2020, courts have ruled  that the election rules adopted in 2020 in each of those three states broke the law and thus Trump lost because ballots were counted for Biden that should not have been. 
 

The lesson learned is that if a party primaries its incumbent  weak president, that party will lose the general election for sure.   Whereas if a party supports its  weak incumbent president, there is a better than 50 percent chance that the president will win the election   
 

 Ideally for the GOP, Newson would primary Biden  but he has said he won’t.
 

 Polis has the credentials to mount a credible primary attack (he was the most anti lockdown of every Democrat governor, hasn’t touched guns, and because he is gay, progressives won’t dare to attack him).   
 

Polis is smarter than every active politician around, and he knows he will get a better opportunity down the road, after he removes Newsom from the chess board. 

 

Newson is always one sex scandal from snorting his political career, and Polis likely has a stock pile of dirt to use.  And there is always a chance Newson gets recalled before 2024.  Newsom just can’t help himself when it comes to self destruction. 
 

Tulsi was driven off.  
 

And there  literally is no one else unless Crist or Beto pull off upset wins in 2022 or Cheney completes her reinvention.  
 

That’s how badly the DNC (aka Obama / Clinton cartel) has ruined its party.   
 

The DNC rigged the 2020 primaries so that Biden secured the nomination  after everyone dropped out. It’s not going to let a credible challenger get any traction to win at convention

It is interesting that the leadership thing the Biden team is talking about is how they drove up inflation to trigger the bigger checks.
