Losing effectiveness becuse of over prescribing.  Ciprofloxacin would be a better choice

Are you being serious right now?  Only for adults.  Not recommended if an infection can be resolved with "a safer antibiotic".

NB are you thinking of something like a Zpack? Cipro shouldn't be used in children unless it's some kind of serious emergency. If an adult needs Cipro its also usually for something quite serious and the side effects can be harsh and that's not even to mention the risk of CDIFF. They pumped me full of that stuff in the hospital after they mucked up my surgery.

 

A lot of antibiotics and other drugs are in very short supply right now. Tylenol and cold/cough. Take a walk down your grocers pharmacy aisle...

In the US there is only one facility (that I am aware of) in TN that makes Amoxicillin. 

 

Amoxicillin is by far the most common Rx I write in my practice.  

 

For people allergic we often use Clindamycin, but it is rough on the GI tract and way more apt to cause C diff.  Starting to use Azithromycin (Z-pack) for people allergic to Amox.

I am talking about Cipro ear drops.. ok for kids and very effective
