I-751 Background Check - 2 Leases

Good morning!

I just found out my USC wife had signed another lease for her father (I thought the father had signed directly) due to his low credit score.

She appears on our joint leases, but I am wondering if this other lease where she is the primary holder and her father secondary would show up on the background check.

I'm not too concerned with this in the long term as our relationship is genuine, but since my case is otherwise very strong was hoping to avoid the long waits and get it approved quickly.

Appreciate any comments and thank you!! Good luck to all.

To be clear I submitted my application in March '21

People have multiple properties and addresses. This should not be an issue.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

You will need to bring the lease to the interview, and some sort of ID/paperwork/personal statement, showing that it’s her dad she signed the lease for, and he’s the one living there. As long as you have that and can explain everything, you will be fine. Otherwise it might look like she’s not living with you and it will raise red flags.

I had a similar issue and during my first ROC interview the IO asked me if there’s a different address that I can be associated with. Thankfully both me and my ex knew the address and the circumstances of signing it, however I did not have any paperwork to prove it. After no decision for a few years after that, I switched to a waiver, and included IDs/bills/taxes/etc (plus a personal notarized statement) of the person who I signed the lease for along with an explanation letter to my package. This time the IO didn’t ask me any questions about the lease, and thankfully my ROC was approved.

good luck
