Could someone explain to me the policy the Russia has that if a foreign citizen is residing in country that every year they do have to leave the country and then return for some reason.  My wife has basically said this, as she is from Tajikistan. She normally goes back to Tajikistan for a week or so.  in 2019 her and the girls went to Kazakhstan for 3 days.   I know she said something about that last year do to the COVID travel bans that this was either suspended or extended.

I am wondering about this, because Russia has stated the Migrants who's registrations have expired, (in the news article it stated, "Illegal migrants,") need to leave the country by  June 15th, 2021

.

My wife goes Monthly to do registrations and pay the fee's.  So she is LEGAL.  I don't know if this will affect us.  If it does could we request an emergency interview, or something like that?

I would reach out to a lawyer in Russia. They are not expensive like here in the US, heh. The laws right now in Russia are totally crazy because of Covid and a lawyer will be able to help you navigate what is what right now.

As of May 12th, the Moscow Embassy will only process immigrant visas on a life or death or "age out" basis. So, there's pretty much zero chance of Moscow granting it. I would start "embassy shopping" right now to see if you can move it to another embassy. Moscow is effectively shutting down due to some new decrees by the Russian government, even for US citizen services.

I've been going out of my head, over that news about the shut down.  I'm going to have my Lawyer contact the embassy in Moscow and Almaty, Kazakhstan.  I sent an E-mail to  Kazakhstan a few weeks ago, they told me they could not accept the transfer.  It hasn't even left the NVC yet, but the case numbers do have the MOS at the start.

Could contacting a senator or congress-person help at all?

Well our Lawyer, here in the states, is sending a request to the NVC to send the documents to Almaty, Kazakhstan, also asking to expedite due to current situations.  I hope it works.

They are talking about illegal migrants (people that don't have a valid registration) if your wife has that registration then it has nothing to do with her, and about your second question why she needs to leave the country every single year, it's because she's rather to leave the country for a few days and to get a new registration for a year upon the entrance than to extend an existing one, hope it helps
