Excellent. No idea why he chose to say anything (not like he could or should have said much because of pending cases) but what he said was just.... bizarre. Then again he is a very strange dude.

If  you mean murderer, agreed.

Profile pic - Rainbow Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village - Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

I agree, but the facts don't lie.

Do you think the money that his family received for the illegal summary execution for a man suspected of passing a counterfeit bill actually makes things any better? Money doesn't make things all better. It doesn't bring people back from the dead. Chauvin's decisions made sure Floyd never got a chance to be tried on any allegations against him. We don't even know if the bill actually was counterfeit (this never was decided at the trial) and we don't even know if Floyd was knowingly trying to use a fake $20.

We are not better, any of us, where one man has the power of life or death for a person accused -- not even convicted -- of a crime. That is what is disgusting. I hope that the Floyd and Chauvin families can both find peace in the years to come.

Not sure why his family should get such a windfall, would not the funds have been better served amongst his victims?

Whose victims? Who was the victim on that day?

We need to remember that George Floyd was not on trial. Whether he was convicted of crimes in the past or not has no bearing on whether he deserved to be killed, or whether anyone should "benefit" from his death. That's not how our system works.

Does Chauvin not get the opportunity to reform in prison as well? I should hope he does. I think many people have the capacity to feel remorse and to atone for their crimes. When Chauvin writes his memoir after he is released, should all his proceeds not go to the family of George Floyd?

People who have committed crimes and served their time can win the lottery. Their winnings -- unless there's some restitution agreement in place -- don't get taken from them to give to the victims of their prior crimes for which they have been convicted and served their time.

$14 million is a lot, maybe "too much" but I was not on that jury and I doubt any of us here were. Some money should go to his family for his lost income. Some money should go for suffering due to the loss of someone who was loved. I do not doubt that with the eyes of the world on them, that the Floyd family will put a significant chunk of that money into charitable causes.

Usually Restitution is a bit of a waste of time, you can not get blood out of a stone, there is no Insurance backing up.

This is not a statutory settlement it seems to be a civil matter? So usually the largest element is loss of earnings, not sure how that applies here so what is it for?

Perhaps the victims who most likely saw no benefit in wasting time and money suing him should have a second chance when this presumably became part of his estate?

Fixxored for you.  In case you missed the tox report, Floyd died of a self-induced Fentanyl & meth overdose.  Imagine for a moment (if you are able) how little this case would have been made public, had Floyd just cooperated and NOT swallowed his illicit drugs to try and hide them from the police?  He would have been arrested, perhaps gone to jail, perhaps gone to trial, but he would STILL BE ALIVE.

I don't care for Chauvin's actions that day any more than anyone else with a sense of human compassion, but he did not murder Floyd.

Chauvin can hardly complain, well I guess he will but seems fair enough.
