Hi friends from San Diego, do the officers here usually ask you to explain the meaning of words in N400 Yes/No questions (sec 12)? For example, would they ask you what "Totalitarian" mean in the question  "Have you ever been a member of, or in any way associated with (either directly or indirectly) any other totalitarian Party?" Thank you!!!

They are not quizzing you on if you understand the question. However, if you do not understand it, you should look it up before you answer/submitted yes or no. If you do not know what they are asking- you cannot have truthfully/correctly answered it, do you see what I am saying?

They ask whatever they want. Officer asked me directly that  are you a terrorist? Did you kill any people? Do you support ISIS?  All of types of questions. My interview was fun with the officer. I got out in 10 mins with Oath ceremony.
