Timeline

The UK is a member of the 'Five Eyes' group with the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand along with many treaties in respect to immigration information sharing. These countries share more immigration info than probably any other group other than the EU with their Schengen Information System.

 

So you must tick 'yes' for previous deportations on the DS-260, I guarantee they already know and if the applicant lies on the form it is likely a permanent inadmissibility case for material misrepresentation. Absolutely not worth taking that path.
