I-129F Documents need to be translated

So my Fiancee had her name changed at a really young age and has both birth certificate copies that are in Thai, will I need to get both of them translated as evidence for legal name change?

This is for my original petition I am sending into Dallas for the I-129F.

I am not sure because there is no requirement in this submission for her birth certificate, but would this fall under legal name change that needs proof?

I can't answer your question directly, but I would be in the camp of it being better to provide too much information than not enough. I believe that all legal name changes need proof, so if the birth cert is the only proof of that, then I'd send it in.

 

You will need to translate/have translated everything that is not in English.

It's pretty straightforward.   Any document submitted as evidence to the USCIS that is not in English requires a translation.

Yes, that's why my question was asking if I need to provide proof for this legal name change and not about the translation.

Yes, there is no I-129F requirement for the beneficiary's birth certificate.  But, if the beneficiary had a legal name change, evidence of that must be submitted with the petition.  I'm not familiar with the Thai laws for name change, so I can't comment on what legal documents would be sufficient evidence.  In any case, you can't submit what you don't have, so just include your fiancee's birth certificates along with their English translations.  Make sure to note your fiancee's previous name in the I-129F form field for "Other Names Used".

Thank you I appreciate the help! Yes I have the previous name filled in the I-129F already. We are looking for a place in Bangkok now to do the translation!

our I-129F was approved withOUT name change docs nor birth certificate. yes, you must affirm (check) 'yes' and include all prior name(s). the embassy in BKK requires the docs. 

a tip: my fiancee got her name change docs from the district office in Phitsanulok in English. you pay extra for the service but skip the extra step (...and time) sending them out for translation. 

as a note, if your fiancee changed both of her names then 2 documents will be required. 

we're guessing that any docs requested from any office or agency (ie; Royal Thai Police report, etc.) may be provided in English. recent quote for the RTP report is 4500thb.
