We object to vaccinations on moral and religious grounds. Imagine my surprise when I found out that vaccinations are mandatory for immigration but not mandatory for citizens at the federal level. I found my husband could file an I-601 waiver for the vaccinations, but it is up to the CO whether it will be approved or not. Has anyone been successful with this?

It is done so infrequently, that there is little archival info here on VJ.  People occasionally come to inquire, as you are, but then rarely return to follow up on their outcomes.

Well yes you can file but you file at the lockbox not something handled by the CO.

I have seen them obtained but pretty unusual.

It must happen. I can't remember anyone from Canada getting one, but maybe they decide to not wait the extra months and be reunited instead... Hard to say.

It should not matter where from, they all go through the same process.

When dealing with strongly held beliefs I doubt time and cost would be an issue.

Good point.   OP, you should know that if you undertake the process to try for a vaccine waiver, it will add lots of time to an already long process.

It shouldn't add too much, but we are just getting started on the IR1 process and we live together in Canada right now. So we will bide our time and I can always contact my Senator or Congressman if it gets too crazy long.

They cannot do anything to speed up the adjudication of a case, unfortunately.

Any missing document in Montreal usually adds at least 6 weeks, so good have to get your waiver approved, then the visa issued.

Just good to know in advance - but it's even better that you do not seem to be in a rush/are together.

I 601 is filed after the interview.

Do you have a plan B in case of failure to receive the waiver?  Good luck.

To be fair it is unusual for a well prepared waiver to be refused.
