Do you know what a TV news technical director does? This isn't a guy who is directing the agenda at CNN, nor is he going to know what the overarching "agenda" or "narrative" CNN has beyond his general feeling about it. Dude likes his job and thinks he's fighting the good fight against right wingers by working for CNN. He's also trying to impress a woman with this because he thinks she will be impressed by his Very Important Job. The guy is a techie, which is fine -- cable news needs techies! But he's not going to be involved in high level discussions.

Sort of wondering why Fox is not in that list of news organizations that "are not just interested in presenting the news, but rather editorializing, and trying to steer the national discourse at least politically." If you think they are not, then maybe we can do a barter on bridges. :)

Trying to explain away whats going on at CNN, by painting the technical director as some IT intern, trying to impress his girlfriend is laughable.  No matter if you are left, right or MOR like me, News networks bending the truth to push political agendas and social media banning opposition voices should scare the hades out of you

I get you, and I agree with you. But we need something more than a rando techie trying to impress a girl to actually prove that that is definitively the narrative at CNN. I do not doubt there is viewpoint bias there. I'm not blind and dumb. But this "sting" is not proof of much more than one low level employee's impressions.

I believe there were recordings from some CNN high level meetings suggesting the same thing.

All great except he is not some "low level employee"

Do you know what a technical director on a cable news program does? Do you know what this one did? He is not "the" technical director for all of CNN. He was a technical director on several programs. Project Veritas even tweeted a pic of his LinkedIn profile before it was taken down. (And before PV's account was suspended.)

Look, I grew up around people in the business. My sister's in the business (not on the tech side). This is a guy who has an integral job in terms of production, not in terms of strategy. He's the guy who makes sure the transitions run smoothly, which is especially important right now when there are even people reporting remotely. He's not pulling strings.

As I said to a friend of mine the other day, the "Played an integral part in the 2020 Presidential elections" line is about as meaningful as someone writing "Played an integral part as a team of 20 full and part times sales associates in ensuring customer satisfaction with sweatshirts at Abercrombie's Glendale Galleria location."

Your preferred search engine is your friend.  Just search "Project Veritas Jeff Zucker".  I realize you are trying to downplay this as much as possible given the narrative you wish to believe, but the simple fact is the MSM (CNN, NYTimes, WaPo, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) have shifted from journalism to political advocacy in much of their political reporting (not just on their editorial/opinion shows).

I prefer actual, verified sources to Project Veritas, thanks. Do you have any actual journalism to point to? I'd even take the Federalist.

You still haven't addressed my point that Charlie Chester isn't a guy with any clout at CNN like PV and the Daily Fail and RT and and and are all trying to make him out to be. He's a techie who inflated his resume to impress a woman. That is the actual story here. This isn't journalism by PV -- it's purposely misconstruing and misrepresenting Chester's identity to feed the rage machine. That sounds a lot like propaganda to me.

You haven't proven that Charlie Chester was not knowledgeable of the editorial direction of CNN.  Btw, what reputable sources do you prefer?  NYTimes, WaPo, etc.?  Not really a lot of good "news" coming from those sources unless of course one is a particular political bent.

O'keefe has a long history of selectively edited "gotcha" videos and trying to trip folks up with several spectacular failures.   The WaPo even won a Pulitzer for not being duped by one of their sting operations.

Putting a propaganda machine like P Veritas forward as a source of truth is laughable. This is a political operative playing dirty tricks should not be give 503 C status. Another Citizens United fiasco.

Can you tell me why a guy who is responsible for making sure that the transitions from studio to remote location reporting runs smoothly would know what the editorial direction is at CNN? I mean, he can certainly make observations and draw his own conclusions. But it's not determinative in the slightest. A cog in the machine doesn't necessarily know what the machine looks like or what it's for.

And of course I can't prove he doesn't know -- it's just that given what his job is, it's more unlikely that he does know the intricacies of CNN policy than that he's just making guesses. What's more likely -- that this guy knows about all the calculating, devious machinations at the strategy level, or he's just spitballing? All I know is what people I know who are involved in TV production tell me.

As for reputable, I gave you one. I do not count Project Veritas as being reputable. I am open to hearing from all sides of an argument, if the person/outlet publishing the argument has facts to point to, rather than deceptive editing and misrepresenting facts. I think Fox News news reporting tends to be quite good, for example.

Who knows more about what is going on than the people at the bottom.  I always found if I want to get information, I go to the Admins.  Whatever, regardless of PVs tactics, which are similar to the tactics used by the MSM such as selectively editing videos to fit a narrative, this is just more confirmation of the political activism that goes on.

The MSM has an even longer history of selectively editing videos/pictures, or pushing a narrative, so why is PV so bad?  Putting the MSM forward as a source for truth is also quite laughable regardless of how many self-serving Pulitzers they may have.  I am under no illusion of the bias of an outfit like PV, the fact that the overt bias of the MSM is lost on so many is amazing.

I have to say I admire your refusal to back down on your point that this guy knows what's what at CNN.  I mean, that is pretty consistent but Emerson had some strong words about that.
