K1 NVC Expedite Process

I have seen that sending them a email to that is for expidiated gets a automatic response that k1s are already expidiated. The embassy is not the one that expidiates it. It is the nvc. And I had a successful expidiate in February from the nvc inquiry form. I explained my reason and within a week it was being expidiated. it was expidiated to Honduras. Just giving my experience.

Specifically, I email my expedite request to this address with my documentations, right?

 NVCExpedite@state.gov

I left a message at the end. That email will give you a automatic response about k1s being expidiated already. You need to fill out the nvc inquiry form. Honduras embassy said they are not the ones that expedite the file to the embassy that it is the nvc

My fiance (the petitioner), contacted his congressman some few weeks ago. Congressman sent an expedite request to NVC. NVC replied that they have forwarded the request to the embassy. Today my case status changed to "in transit". We have not received any letter so i do not know if it is normal processing or if the request was granted.

Great.  Make stuff up.  DOS loves it when people do that.

Yep.  There are people who have been waiting a lot longer than August.  Everyone thinks THEIR case should be moved to the front of the queue ahead of those who have been waiting patiently.

Even if expedited, still have to marry, file for AOS, and wait for 2 year green card before even working.

From what I gathered so far, it is pretty much pure luck.  If you can come up with a sad story, essential workers, mental distress, physical health distress, whatever, just try to submit the request.  The request itself is free.

I'm sure many have submitted requests based on these reasons.

How many frivolous requests have been approved? Who knows? But USCIS / DOS have pretty good BS meters.

The only successful expedite requests I've seen are because the couple have a US citizen child together or the petitioner is active duty military and about to deploy to a different country.

Thanks, you're right. If I recall correctly, the health reasons were backed up by solid documentation from medical providers.

actually, in the cases I know of, the person for obvious reasons didn't give us any insight into the medical issues and even if they alluded to it, they certainly didn't show us the documentation!  So of course we have no idea of the quality of the documentation.

I think we all can presume the DoS and USCIS (if applicable) don't go granting these without reason that rises to a level they determine to be sufficient.

Not pointing so much at you with this next comment, but there is in this thread - as always - a lot of bitterness and righteousness that come out of the humans here whenever anyone inquires about expedites.  Let people try, its no skin off of our backs. (because we can presume that the DoS and USCIS are going to check it out before granting it)

Tell that to the people who have been waiting in the K-1 process since early 2020.......They might have a different opinion.   But you are correct in that there is no cost in legally applying for an expedite.

@David and Anna agreed, I should have clarified - certainly we don't know the details and can't judge how good their medical documentation is. I meant to say, I am sure that USCIS / DOS look at the quality of the documentation before granting expedites.

My opinion is, frivolous expedite requests hurt everybody because someone in USCIS / DOS has to spend time that could have been better spent processing legitimate expedite requests / otherwise normal workload. But I agree, if someone believes they have a valid reason to expedite, they should certainly try.

I have seen many people request an expedite for various reason.  You just never know which ones will be approved or won't be approved.  Everyone is free to apply.  Hopefully, this case will add to our database of knowledge....

I know I am an essential worker but then 70% of the US workforce is.

In Colorado that includes Pot workers.
