Hey,

me and my husband had our interview almost 7 weeks ago. (Marriage interview, came with k-1 visa)

We went there prepared and had everything with us. We were excited and confident. We have had really good and smooth visa process and easy k-1 interview.

No crazy backgrounds, no criminal history, no visa overstayes. Everything should be good and ”normal”. And if this matters but beneficial is from a ”good” country Sweden.

We arrive to the interview on time.

She comes to get us from the lobby, barely says hey and says ”I will take you separtely, you will wait in a lobby and I will take the American first”

She interviews him first for about 20-30 min and then me about 20-30 min also.

Really detailed questions, maybe 20 questions. She has a odd rude attitude.

We answered everything great, same answers. It was hard interview but same time easy for us cause obviously we live together and know each other well.

She said she can’t give us an answer yet and online says ”my interview was completed and my case must be reviewed”.

7 weeks and still nothing! Why did they do that? I can’t find any similiar stories. I have heard that they might separate couples while in a interview if it goes bad. But we never even got a change to do it together!?

Thank you!!

They didn't "separate you. The officer interviewed the US Citizen first and then, the intending immigrant. That's what they did with us and we were approved the next day. Many field offices do it that way. That's not a Stokes Interview.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

She was probably mad that one of the few good American guys without a felony married a beautiful Swede instead of a grumpy American grouch like her.

So how did it all turn out for you guys? It's been over three months since you wrote this so hopefully you have been approved and everything is all good now?

I'm from Sweden, too. We just send in the AOS application last month and I have the biometrics appointment for 8/2.

Still waiting…

can’t believe the interview was in February and we are already in end of July..

Never thought this would happen to us since we know we should be one of those ”easy couples” without any crazy backgrounds or age differences.

We kinda gave up on waiting. It will happen when it happens.

Having a greencard would not change our life. We are able to work and live our lives. Only thing we can’t do is leave the country but that is okay.

So greencard or no, we are living happily together:)

Hello @blajje we almost have done our interview few days ago and was separated after few min of joint interview, IO was male and he did interview of applicant first and then the American. and interview was really long each of us 20 min and lott of questions, it was back to back so many questions that my husband mixed answer for two questions, rest all mostly our answer match, now status is showing case under review. we came through K1 as well, its very strange that K1 petitioners already been through a lot checks and interview and gain this wait after interview. OMG its just very annoying.  good luck to all of us.

Huh? Less people in a small office room helps quite a bit with social distancing. Shouldn't be so hard to understand.

If the EAD was a combo card then the AP-part of the card expired in June 2021:

When timely filing I-765 and I-131 for combo card renewal only the EAD-part of the card is automatically extended by 180 days: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-resources/handbook-for-employers-m-274/handbook-for-employers-m-274/40-completing-section-2-of-form-i-9/44-automatic-extensions-of-employment-authorization-documents-eads-in-certain-circumstances In that case OP would have to wait for either the recently filed I-131 to be approved or the I-485 to be approved before leaving the US. See 8 CFR § 245.2(a)(4)(ii).
