Hello

On the USCIS website it says my Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview, it's been that way since Oct. 2020. I had to go get an extension stamp in my passport. My wife and I submitted the documents and payment to have my conditions removed in May of 2019. When I was at the USCIS office I asked if they had any other info of the interview, they agent said that she looked at the USCIS site and said she didn't know when the interview could be scheduled and to just keep checking. I was just wondering if any one else has experienced this wait time? I understand that there is a pandemic going on.

We filed my wife's I-751 package in March 2019.  Her case has been "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" since May 2019.

I am moving this thread to the Removing Conditions on Residency discussion area.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

That is a Long wait for just removal of conditions. Can you still apply for N 400 after 3 years have been passed while you still waiting for the I-751 pending case, or you have to get it done before ? cuz clearly sound like you have been more that 3 years since you first get the conditional green card? What do you do if you want to travel outside the states and come back when your IR1 green card expires ?

I believe a new green card with the conditions removed would be needed to apply for the N 400. I'm able to travel outside the U.S. as they put another stamp in my passport that is good for another year. The only place I want to go is back to Canada for a visit but don't want to spend 3 days at my expense in a hotel waiting for a negative Covid test.

No.  You can apply for citizenship (N-400) when you become eligible (usually about a year after filing for removal of conditions for spouses married to US citizens) even if the removal of conditions has not been processed completely.  The interview would then be done for both the removal of conditions and citizenship together.

Technically, the I-751 would be approved before the N-400, although the I-751 interview was conducted along with the citizenship interview.

My wife just had her N400 and I751 interview and she too applied in May 2019 (the cursed month). She passed the citizenship interview but of course the I751 is on hold, even though she did a joint interview for both (they didn't ask me to come in). We are waiting for the officer to review the new documents she made copies of (we purchased a house, new benefits, etc). Nothing yet!

Thanks for the info.

What documents did you send in? I remember sending all my banking, COMCAST bills and I don't remember what else. We added my name to the mortgage so we could re-finance.

The officer copied pages from the closing documents, tax documents, and benefits documents, all of which were recent evidence (probably some others but I cannot remember right now) as the case is nearly two years old and they haven't requested any additional evidence until the N400 interview.
