Biometric appointment - will we get one and will they notify you online?

Hi All! Just filed ROC but my hubby and I planned on traveling out of state for the next 2 months. We were wondering what are the chances for a biometric appointment, and will they update your online tracker to show I have a biometric appointment?

you might or might not get a biometrics in the 2 months.

Sign up for USPS informed delivery. That way you can check your mail every morning incase they dont  update your account online and just mail you a letter.

Have you had your biometrics taken by USCIS in the USA? If not you should expect to get a biometrics appointment to collect biometrics. (Green card holders that went through consular processing for your green card were out of the USA)

USCIS should update online status if an appointment is made but sometimes USCIS does not update the online status of your case and only mails you the appointment notice of the biometrics.

Having a trusted friend or family monitor your mail would be a good idea. Informed delivery notice from USPS is great, and the USCIS case status website should be monitored.

The time USCIS asks for biometrics or reuses biometrics vary a lot from a few weeks after accepting an i751 application to 6, 7 or more months.

It is likely USCIS will reuse your old biometrics then.
