N-400 Interview tomorrow

Hi everyone, it's been a while since 'I've visited this fine establishment. I have my N-400 interview tomorrow and I have some concerns. I've been a legal permanent resident (though marriage to a US Citizen) since 2011 and an un-restricted one since 2013. My green card still has 2 years left on it and I never filed for the N-400 because I didn't have the funds or the need really to do so. However, My wife and I (though still legally married) separated in December of 2019, My brother gifted me the filing fee for my birthday last year and I filed in October of 2020. I'm not concerned about the civics test or the writing/oral exam, what I'm concerned about is what I need to bring to the interview, I understand that since I've been a permanent resident for more than 5 years that my marital status shouldn't matter. Am I right or should I be concerned? Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't think you should be an issue or matter for concern.

First, you are not divorced.

Second, even if you were divorced, you are +5 residency.

If the officer asks if you are married, say yes, because you are. You don't have to offer more information than they ask for.

Thank you, that was very reassuring. Everyone tells me the same thing given that I’ve been a resident for almost ten years.

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Canada
Timeline

My close friend applied for citizenship based on 5+ years of US residency. He was still living with his American wife at the time but was about to begin divorce proceedings. He listed his marital status as "married" on the application but did not have to provide any documentation about the marriage like he did for the green card. In fact, he didn't even tell his wife he was applying for citizenship, and he was never asked anything about his wife (now ex) at the interview. You should not have any trouble. Good luck!

I passed my interview . I only brought my passport and my green card to the interview and they didn’t ask any questions about my marriage. Thank you all for your responses!
