Don't know if this is correct or not, but what others is telling me is that once status changes to Ready you can go ahead and schedule your interview. The consulate used to schedule the interview and contact you but that's no longer the case. Again don't know if this is right or not, this is what I've read from others going through the process.

i was goint to try to schedule an interview, but the acknowledgment says;

"

You may register/schedule your K visa (Fiancé(e)/Spouse/Child) appointment only after you have received instructions via letter or email from the Immigrant Visa unit to do so.

If you have not received instructions, DO NOT continue with appointment registration or scheduling. If you register/schedule an appointment without receiving instructions from the IV unit, your appointment will be cancelled on the day of your interview and you will be turned away at the Consular Section.

I acknowledge that I have received instructions from IV unit to register/schedule an appointment on this website.

" I did not go any further and risk getting turned away at the Consulate. Hopefully everything works out for you.

Thank you for clearing this up. We are in visa 'ready' and completed the DS-160 but were unclear on how to proceed following that. Based on what my fiancee's hearing in her groups there are folks saying to just go ahead and schedule, but that goes directly against what the Department of State is instructing. Seems like maybe the process has changed a little recently?

Great question. I don't know, I am trying to get clarity myself. My Attorney says to wait, and before making the appointment you have to acknowledge that you received notice from the consulate. I believe that it has been this wau for a very long time. The only difference is in the past the would physically mail a packet 3 and now the send an email with instruction to schedule the interview and medical exams.  I commented here to understand what everyone else is doing and if anyone has had any problems scheduling before receiving the packet 3 email.

My noiva says some of the group members were preemptive and sent emails to the consulate to get confirmation as to whether to proceed with scheduling an interview - they received a response with email instructions same day in August.

I just sent out a feeler and will report back if I hear something.

Well Confirmation came in today after repeated emails. We have to reschedule interview to November as soonest doctor examination appointment is in November. So one trip to Rio for both.

Did you already make your doctor appointment? We're still waiting for them to write back.  We reached someone on the phone but they said appointments could only be made via email.

We also received the Packet 3 email today. Near the top of the email it states that you can send the medical exams after the interview, but near the bottom it says you have to complete the exams prior to the interview?

What city are you scheduling your exams?

In Rio. One of our friends had her medical exam 1 week after the interview.

That's correct. Our interview is in late November so we're trying to get an appointment the week before.

I'm very happy to see progress in this group after so long!

Since, you are all ahead, I was wondering if someone can clarify a couple things for me. My application was approved and is currently at NVC. 1 - Do I need to get an invoice number from them ? (and if yes, what is it for?). 2 - Do we wait for the application to be send to the consulate before completing the DS-160 form?

Did you get an email from nvc with the following subject line yet?

The National Visa Center sent your K1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

1. I wrote the NVC and received a response in days with an RDJ number. I don't recall receiving an ''invoice'' number.

2. I completed DS-160 and wrote the Consulate simultaneously after receiving confirmation from NVC that my case was received. I received the Consulate's email two days after I contacted them.
