Yes i was just curious if some methods are faster. One of our friends stayed in rio for another 6 weeks after her interview before she was able to pick it up.

Ours seemed to be pretty quick - we put in for home delivery, interviewed on 11/1 and went into issue this morning.

Did the consulate have your medical at the time of your interview? Our Nov. 1 interview is still 'refused' as of this morning, but the doctor waited to send the medical because of uncertainty of the vaccine requirements.

Yes, they had everything prior to the interview, I'd have to imagine they must be processing the medical exam for your case. We were able to confirm it was sent by the clinic as well as received by the Consulate, might be worth confirming on both ends as well in your case?

Following our interview we went 'application received' - and 7 days later to 'administrative processing'. Two days later it changed to 'issued' and then we received tracking info the following morning.

Thanks, that's helpful! The doctor called my fiancee and let her know the day before the interview that she could send the medical without being fully vaccinated. We were 'Refused' on Nov 1 immediately after the interview. Nov 4 the date updated on CEAC, but still refused. I assume that means they received the medical on that day. I really, really hate seeing that word every time I check.

Question on scheduling, has anyone dealt with "No appointments available" before and if so how long did it take for appointments to show up? We've been checking regularly for 4 business days now and nothing has come up yet.

When I was trying to schedule, I had a problem with the website constantly crashing saying they were doing maintenance. When I finally could look at the schedule, the months of November and December had no dates, but January had 3 dates available. I didn't experience this '"No appointments available" message.

Good evening, everyone!

Thank you for supporting one another and sharing all of this information! ❤️

Some questions for the group:

1. How was your process with scheduling your appointments on the U.S. Visa Appt. Service Website? Were there available appointment times when you attempted to schedule & pay the fee? How long did you have to wait for appointments to become available?

2. Were you required to already have a scheduled interview appointment date when attempting to schedule the medical exam?

Check out this page that details the "Refused" status. Hope it puts your mind at ease!

1. Thank you for the info, @dfmag! @ori8, we are experiencing the same issue. Please let us know if you find an available appointment time! We will do the same.

Just an update for those still going through this process in Rio and are looking for more info...

The US consulate in Rio received my application from NVC on Sept 30th, I waited for two weeks without any feedback from them. Following the suggestion of other members here, I submitted an e-mail to the embassy and 3 days later I got the instructions for the next steps (at first we just got an automated response). So thank you @p_marv and @Gauchos for the great suggestion!!

Regarding the medical exam, I called the doctor's office in Belo Horizonte without any luck. The number ending in 3938 would not even ring. The number ending in 2335 would always just say they were busy. I tried for 3 days at various times and I couldn't reach them. I also submitted an email to them and did not get a response. Since I am from BH, I ended up stopping by the office to make the appointment (which I understand is definitely not an option for most people). Talking to the secretary, we found out that my e-mail was marked as spam and that is why she did not respond to it. So I believe the best way to reach them is through e-mail and, if you don't get a response within one or two days, just send them another e-mail.

Also, the medical office requested that I sent the consulate instructions e-mail as well as the consulate interview confirmation e-mail in order to book my medical appointment date.

In the instructions for the medical exam in BH, they state that the fiancé needs to be fully vaccinated against covid for them to release the medical exam.

Thank you for sharing all of this info, @dfmag!

Not only can I confirm #2, but we also had to provide the doctor (in BH) with a copy of the packet 3 email giving us the go ahead to schedule the interview. I've seen varying advice on here stating that it's not necessary to wait for this email to schedule, but for us it was necessary.

Also responding to question 2, the secretary at the medical office in BH would only send me the instructions for the medical exam once I had sent her the confirmation that my interview was scheduled.

@ori8 We just scheduled our interview for 01 FEB 2022! There were only 2 other time slots available. I hope you're able to grab one of them!!
