My fiancé has his interview on Tuesday at the London embassy. We were questioning if he should wear a suit or not? Or if a nice sweater and jeans would be sufficient enough?

Comfortable

YMMV

I interviewed in London. Just be groomed and smart casual is fine. From what I remember, no one was wearing a suit. A shirt and jeans should be perfect if he wants to look neat.

Suits are not the norm in London.

This question gets brought up a lot.

Your attire doesn't determine an approval or denial. I remember wearing one of those $10 tshirt and my daily jeans to my AOS interview.

Within 2 mins of starting the interview, the IO already told me "how and when to remove conditions after 2 years." I took this as an indication that I was approved. The only question we were asked was how we met, and that was within those aforementioned 2 mins. After the 2 mins, my wife and IO started talking about dogs. I kept my mouth shut.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I had my interview in London on a cold December day. I saw all manner of outfits. The woman who was called before me was wearing one of those ugly Christmas sweaters! There were people there in suits but maybe they were there for investor or business visas and wanted to “look the part”. One man was there in paint-covered jeans and sweatshirt with his documents in a Tesco bag. I dressed as I would for a day at the office.

I just asked my husband, who entered the US on an L1 visa. He went in a suit to his interview in London, because that's what he was wearing to work that day. There were people in jeans and t-shirts, a woman in a skimpy summer dress he remembers very clearly, smart casual wear, etc. It really doesn't matter. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. If wearing a suit makes you feel that way, do it! And if not, chuck on the clothes that make you do. :)

Okay, maybe skip the "Death to America" t-shirt, but you know what I mean. :D
